I'm pregnant

I'm pregnant, did a test this morning and it's positive. Think I'm still in shock. Rang up the doctor and I need to pick up a pregnancy pack with midwife details. I'm very crampy - have been for the last week and a half, should I be worried?

I'm very crampy too...got my official BFP on Monday. It's easing now though. I don't think I'm meeting my midwife until 10 weeks

I had lots of cramps in early pregnancy and I was fine, so please don't worry. I think they're very common. Congratulations and wishing you a healthy and happy pregnancy. xxx

How long have you had the crampy feeling? When do you calculate your baby to be born? Mine is 23.1.15

Crampy pains in the first weeks are normal, things are embedding and stretching! I had sharp period like pains for a few weeks. Part of the joys of the first trimester! Congrats!

Can you take anything for the cramps? It's quite uncomfortable x

Paracetamol, but no hot baths or heat on stomach like you might with normal cramp. They are uncomfortable. Add the boob pain and nausea and it can be a tough few weeks but so worth it!

Thank you, I've gone a bit of food. Nothing looks appealing at the moment.

Yes, cramping at this stage is normal as the embryo implants into the uterus lining. If it starts to become really bad it may be worth getting checked out, especially if it is focused more on one side, just in case it is an ectopic pregnancy.

I got my BFP on Monday and had mild cramps Tuesday & Wednesday, although a few other posts have also suggested it shouldn't be anything to worry about unless it gets really painful.
Congrats on your BFP hope your pregnancy is happy & healthy x

Hi noappointment I have worked out I am due on 29.01.15 although I'm hesitant until it's confirmed! I'm seeing my midwife next Friday... I'll let you know how it goes! Is it your first?

Hi all
I got my bfp on Sunday and working on my last cycle am due 28th jan 2015.
Seeing mid wife next Tuesday.
Also having fairly dull cramps from time to time and sometimes pinky tinge in discharge.
Am keen to be able to speak to anyone at the same stage as me as keeping this secret is already proving tricky!!

My first message! Found out I was pregnant yesterday and over the moon but also nervous and a bit anxious, as before I found out, I'd had a massive boozy weekend and taken ibuprofen for the hangover. Really hope it's all ok. Also due 28 jan and don't know how I'll keep this to myself! Do you count how many weeks pregnant from when you conceive or first day of last period? I know nothing - so much reading to do...

I just calculated it on the nhs website I think it's basically from your the start of your last period it should then tell you when you conceived although I don't think you get a propper date till your scan. I am going to go at 7 weeks as dnt think I could wait till 12 to make sure all ok. It's such a nerve racking time, my husband thinks I'm crazy as am so scared of every twinge!!

I can't even get an appointment to see my doctor until the middle of next week. Worried in case I eat the wrong thing, or if I'm missing supplements already! How did you get a scan at 7 weeks? Did your gp recommend that? We booked a holiday before we found out and fly in 3 weeks so would love a scan before we go. And I'm already worrying about flying, sunbathing, foods I'll eat... Sure the nerves will settle (fingers crossed)

The due in January chat thread is going strong here, and the February thread is underway too.

They'll both be great places to find out information, as well as to chat.

In terms of early pregnancy services, these vary hugely between regions. You could look for a MW led 'early bird' clinic, which will provide advice and answer questions on the early weeks.

A 7 week scan is not usual, and NHS only offers them if you are showing certain adverse symptoms or if you have a complicated medical history.

Hi all

I'm also new to MN and this is my first pregnancy. Going from the date of my lmp, I'm due 17th January. I'll be 7 weeks this Saturday and have booked in to have an early reassurance scan (privately) on Sunday as I'm too impatient and just want to be sure everything is as it should be at this stage. I've then got my first appointment with the midwife next weekend when I'll be 8 weeks (that's the earliest they see you where we live) and she's seeing us at home which I thought was nice!

I haven't had any cramping, just a few twinges here and there. Lots of nausea all day and SO exhausted!

The NHS website lists advice on foods to avoid. Other than that, take folic acid. That's it! Flying is fine. Some sunbathing is ok, but try not to overheat or get dehydrated, and be aware that your skin can burn more easily when pregnant (I upped my SPF from my usual, stayed in the shade most of the time and still burnt in places).

Hi All, hope you dont mind me joining, had my bfp on sunday and had a blood test to confirm it yesterday, from my dates am due around 28th Jan so 5 weeks pregnant- this is my first and sorry if tmi but has anyone else experienced a pinky tinge in discharge occasionally on wiping, not a large amount and no blood but mild cramps every now and again. Should I be concerned, I have been having this for past 5 days and the discharge is normally just in the evenings after going to the toilet.

Hi everybody! I just found out I'm pregnant too, only 4 weeks apparently and it's my first. Still in total shock, it just doesn't seem at all real. My partner and I are delighted but terrified. Seriously. Is that normal? Anyone have any tips for how to get my head wrapped around this? Also I feel about ten degrees warmer all the time and SO exhausted all of a sudden. I've never been a napper but now it's all I can do to stay awake at my desk. I started taking Pregnacare vitamins, do they help with the tiredness? Anyway, Mumsnet is amazing, so glad I've found it. Also, my due date is Feb 3, 2015. Yikes!
