I'm worried that I am going to miscarry although I know that this could not be the case.

I had some brown discharge/mucus when I wiped all Sunday morning. I had another tiny bit today and had noticed a few tiny bits a couple of weeks ago. I've felt hideously sick (though luckily no actual vomiting) until today, but then today I've forced myself to eat and the lack of hunger eases the nausea a bit. I still feel a bit icky and it does sometimes come and go with me.

I rang the out of hours doctor on Sunday and he said it sometimes happens and it doesn't mean I'm definitely going to miscarry but then I read somewhere about someone who had the same symptoms as me and had a mmc at the 12 week scan.

I know I'm over panicking. I'm tempted to pay for a private scan but I couldn't go until the weekend after next as I need Dh to look after DS and we're going away this coming weekend.

Any advice to help me calm down?

Hello PilauMice, I can understand exactly how you're feeling and it's not easy not to worry. I'm 7 weeks and had brown discharge twice on Sunday, which worried me. On Monday I rang community midwives for reassurance (I'd not seen midwife yet, but got their number from my GP's website) and although the lady I spoke to said there are various harmless reasons for brown blood, she booked me a scan for today to be on the safe side. Was reassured to see a heartbeat at my scan this morning. I hadn't expected to get a scan, but felt a lot better having gone. Perhaps get in touch with your local midwives? x

You're less likely to miscarry than not, so try not to worry too much. Also I've read that women with morning sickness are less likely to miscarry - not sure if it's true or not, but if it is then something else to keep you positive :)
(I didn't feel sick at all and reading that "fact" really freaked me out!)

I had brown blood three times before 12 weeks all at same time period would be which is apparently quite common. Now 15 weeks and all fine and dandy so far

If you are worried and gave had a discharge, this should be enough for your GP to refer you to EPU. If he won't, try asking your midwife. They referral has to come from the doc, but the MW very often quite good at bullying them a bit!
Good luck

I had brown discharge at 9 weeks and freaked out as well. I rang my doc who booked me in at the EPU for a scan. All was fine and I went on to have a healthy baby. Worth trying to get a scan to put your mind at rest.
Apparently bleeding is quite common to try not to stress out too much. Hope all goes well.
