Hi all.. I'm 12wks 3 days and have not felt sick yet.. Woke up this morning at 5am shaking and I have been sick 3 times I can't stand up I feel so dizzy and thirsty and gross! I've told work I'll be late but the way things are going I don't think I'm going to make it at all! Will I get in trouble at work? Can they discipline staff? for sickness when pregnant? I know our sickness policy is pretty strict!! Help :( the panic of getting in trouble is making this swishy boat ride a lot worse!!!!

Do what you need to do! Maybe phone up and say you will try and get in later if it settles, it could be a bug and not down to the pregnancy x

If you haven't felt sick before it is likely to be a bug. I'd phone in sick and rest in bed today, I hope you feel better soon!

if you're not well enough to work then you're not well enough to work. how can they possibly discipline you for being ill? legally I dont think they are meant to hold preg related illness alongside normal absence records.

It's quite late for pregnancy sickness to begin, I think you've probably just got a bug. Either way, you shouldn't get in trouble for not going in. And if you've got a stomach bug it's actually very unfair to go in as they are so infectious.

I have suffered with nausea but this is the first time I've actually throw up :(

Sounds more like a bug.
On the issue of pregnancy related sickness they have to record that separately to other sickness. They cannot penalise you for being off sick related to pregnancy. They cannot discriminate against you in any way due to pregnancy. The tricky bit would be proving whether the sickness is pregnancy related or not!

It sounds more like a bug. You are allowed sick leave surely? If it does turn out to be morning sickness, and it continues in a similar fashion your GP can sign you off work for it. Hope you feel better soon.
