15 weeks today and had a slight bled at lunchtime only on the tissue when I wiped and no pain, went into hospital for anti-d as I'm rhesus negative and they found the babies heartbeat but I still feel so worried and scared I'm going to lose the baby has anyone else experienced this and had a good outcome??

Hi DLGB. I'm almost 33 weeks and have had this all the way through my pregnancy. The first time it happened I was about the same as you and I immediately thought the worst after a previous miscarriage.

However it's now happened loads - about 6 or 7 different episodes. The fact that there's a strong heartbeat is great. This type of bleeding is common before 20 odd weeks and doesn't necessarily mean the worst.

Each time it happened I phoned mat assessment and went in for an internal and swabs were taken - nothing ever found. Frustratingly, sometimes there isn't a reason!

Take care of yourself and if it happens again phone up straight away - that's what they're there for. Thanks

Just had it today at 14 weeks I was swabbed and being sent scan tomorow. Luckily I had a consultant appointment this morning, she said it's quite normal and try not to worry.

Me mammy said to take it easy and put my legs up (not overly sure why)

Flowers tho I was panicking like mad posted on mumsnet for advice before I even woke DP up :)

Don't worry OP, it's really common. I'm 30 weeks and have bled (bright red) throughout. The baby is fine. It's just one of those things - women sometimes bleed.

Thank you for all the positive replies, thinking of you today at your scan matildasmom let us know how it goes, they wouldn't scan me Sad I wish they would have for extra peace of mind, since it happened I'm constantly going to the loo and checking Blush it's going to be a very long 25 weeks....

I hope it goes ok for you, try not to stress too much (I know that's easy to say and hard to do!)

After a few doctors trips and bleeds I just thought that I wouldn't lose the baby, I had a little image of it hanging on by its little fingernails

Which is ironic as that little blighter did not want to come out during the birth!!

Take care of yourselves

I had this at 14 weeks (although slightly more blood). Looking at 3 month old, healthy DD now.

It was terrifying, and lenghty because there wasn't much they could do apart from check for the heartbeat and then wait.

In my case they put it down to a small part of the placenta being too low.

Best of luck Thanks

I had some brown blood this morning when I rang the midwife she said it was old blood and nothing to worry about, she said they maybe able to tell where the bleeding had come from at my 20 week scan so it's just a waiting game now, it seems rather common as my mum said she had it in her last pregnancy too, you just don't seem to hear much about it and automatically think the worst, thank you for the lovely messages it gives me hope Smile

Thanks DGLB everything was fine, plenty fluid so they have put it down to one of those random pregnancy things.

I don't get why they won't scan you, just to reassure you. I had a bleed with my second DD and I was scanned then aswell.

I'm sure there just naughty little beggars getting us used to worry and no sleep before they're even here.

Virtual hand holding and counting down to the 20 week scan for you Smile

Some reassurance for you hopefully, I too bled quite a few times through my last pregnancy. Kept going for scans etc and all was always well with baby. Eventually I got fed up with reassurance but no explanation as to what was causing it. I insisted on a proper exam and was eventually told I had a cervical ectropian. Apparently this is very common during pregnancy and very benign. Have a google of it, I bet this is what's happening to you. Ask your GP to look at your cervix, it is usually very easy to diagnose. I should end this by saying baby was fine and is now a happy healthy 3 year old.

Why won't they scan you? That's ridiculous!

I had this with DD2 around the same time. I went to FMU in London and had a good scan. It was related to the position of the placenta and cleared up quickly after that.

Hope you are ok.

That's great news Matilda Smile

They said because it was only a small bleed and they heard a good strong heartbeat there not worried, easy for them to say Hmm

When I called my midwife yesterday she said she it sounded like it was just a blood vessel in the cervix that had broken and that it's quite common, iv had more brown old blood this morning which she said I could get for up to a week, but no bright red since Monday so fingers crossed that will be it....

Ah hopefully so I never got checked for a heartbeat, wonder if you have to be 15 weeks. You will have to update with your 20 week news :)

Are you finding out the sex? We have two girls and DP is (not so) secretly hoping for a boy. I'm not that bothered as I love my little gobshites angels. Although it would be nice to buy non yellow baby clothes if we find out.
