Overdue and fed up!

Hi all, this is my 3rd baby (and last) and hes refusing to budge.. I'm 40 + 4 and tried every old wives tale going to try and start labour but nothing has worked.. Ive also had 2 sweeps from the midwife with no joy! I'm really fed up now not to mention tired!
I was 5 days late with my 2nd child and know this one will make an appearance in his own time but desperate to avoid being induced.
Just wondered if anyone else has experienced an awkward 3rd baby? Because all the midwives have said 3rd babies are commonly different!

I'm 4 days over due with my first. I've tried everything- pineapple, hot curry, long walks and dtd. nothing! I'm fed up sad booked in for a sweep on Thursday so I'm hoping that might help if not ill be looking at induction sad

Kitten059 Mon 28-Apr-14 16:15:54

The only thing i haven't tried is castor oil.. Not sure if i'm brave enough for that. Its nice to know i'm not the only one going through it.
Everyone that has been due around the same time as me that i know have all had their babies which depresses me even more sad

smilesallround247 Mon 28-Apr-14 16:29:51

I know@!!! I feel left out sad I haven't tried castor oil either- I'm a little scared of it. I mean the hot curry gave me a bad tummy I bet the oil would do worse.
I don't know if I should be walking lots more or just being lazy and staying in bed all day ;)
you're not alone hun!

Same here! its my first and im 40+1.... not helped by the fact that everyone thought I was going to be early so never expected to still be pregnant! have tried everything - except castor oil too.... doubt I will! hoping the midwife will agree to doing a sweep tomorrow.

EllaBella220 Mon 28-Apr-14 17:11:32

I went over with both my first babies and it is so frustrating so I feel for you all! Nothing I tried worked and not even sweeps or the pessaries worked for my 2nd child. He was (and still is) a stubborn little one!!

I'm only 19 weeks but already think I'll go over with this one again so I'll be trying everything I can think of (except castor oil, our hospital are VERY strict on the use of that). I've read on here something about some other oil which you burn around the home and massage into you aswell? The name escapes me though sad

smilesallround247 Mon 28-Apr-14 17:55:52

Is it that calery sage? I can't spell it but I bet if you search for it on amazon it will turn up.
Bah I'm just too tired I hope we get to see our babies soon! I'm bored of waiting and the endless texts of ' have you had her yet' grrrangry

EllaBella220 Mon 28-Apr-14 18:05:12

Clary sage, that's it! I hadn't heard of it until I started reading these boards but I will probably give it a go if I'm still waiting at 41 weeks!

buffythebarbieslayer Mon 28-Apr-14 18:07:14

41+2 with third and fucking miserable. My first two weren't this late

smilesallround247 Mon 28-Apr-14 20:15:24

It does suck but im trying to think that the end is in sight but each day is a struggle/ labour symptom watch day and it's just too tiring sad
we'll all see our babies soon! Try and keep positive smile

I don't think anything will work unless your baby is ready. My boy is 9 days old now and I was overdue by 11 days. Went into labour the night before was booked in to be induced. I had a sweep but nothing happened no pains ect, went for two really long walks the next day and a few hours later went into labour. I'm convinced it was the walking that helped, everything can change very quickly s

CarlyKins Mon 28-Apr-14 23:11:27

.......don't give up hope smile walk walk walk it definitely helps but as said before it won't help until baby is ready. Good luck x

Walked for 3 hours Sat and Sun and played football in the park with my youngest last night.
Getting contractions every 10 mins since 7pm last night but they aren't getting any stronger and not much different from the braxton hicks ive been getting for about 3 weeks now.
Just waiting for my waters to break now but ive a feeling ive a few days to wait!!

Arrrrrrggggghhhhhh can I join?

39+6 with dc3. My previous 2 dc had been born by now!! Had 2 false alarms that resulted in calling the midwives out... I'm so bloody embarrassed! I didn't have anything like that in my first two labours! The second one (saturday night) I was having really strong contractions every 2 mins, the midwife laughed when I said could it be another false alarm! Then it just stopped....

I just feel like crying tbh sad

I've been walking round Durham today. my poor feet are swollen, my back aches and my hips are soo sore! and nothing, had some cramps but then nothing! sad I hope my sweep starts something

honeyharris Wed 30-Apr-14 11:01:38

I'm 40 +4 and really fed up, had a sweep on Monday which doesn't seem to have worked. Have tried pineapple and curry. Long walks seem to be out of the question due to needing a wee all the time! Really bored and lonely. Am going to get a Lush 'sex bomb' bath bomb as it contains clary sage - reckon its worth a try.

amroc18 Wed 30-Apr-14 11:12:38

40+4 today too and climbing the walls...
Seems LO doesn't understand me yelling "get out" at him either. Grrr.

TeaJunkie88 Wed 30-Apr-14 11:39:39

41 weeks today had first sweep yesterday with no result and got another booked for tomorrow, really hoping LO makes an appearance before induction on Monday sad.

smilesallround247 Wed 30-Apr-14 19:20:40

I'll be 41 weeks tomorrow and my sweep is booked for tomorrow. I really hope it starts something. my feet are soooo swollen sad

honeyharris Wed 30-Apr-14 21:52:30

Ooh it appears plug has fallen out since I posted (sorry if tmi) not sure if I'm allowed to soak in bath now!

smilesallround247 Thu 01-May-14 12:25:36

Just had my first sweep. wasn't as bad as I first thought. Midwife said I was 1cm dilated and have a very favorable cervix. just got to get bouncing!

Beautifulboy1 Thu 01-May-14 13:49:44

Hi all, don't know if you want to try or not but with DS1 I went to a breast feeding class at 36+6 and as I had gestational diabeties I was told to try and express some milk from then on and freeze it as he will need it when he is born due to his sugar levels. ANYWAY I was warned that expressing or using a pump could send me into early labour as my body would be tricked into thinking the baby was suckling and produce oxytocins, sure enough I expressed with a pump (or tried to) at 11pm and at 3am my waters broke! So get pumping ladies, you never know!

Am now 38 + 6 with DS2 and have an ELCS booked in for next Wednesday so I staying well away from my breasts! lol

Good luck all xx

Cupcake11 Thu 01-May-14 14:12:50

Do you mind if I join in? 40+1 today and getting really fed up.
I can't even say I'm that uncomfortable compared to others, more just bored of the waiting.
I've eaten my weight in pineapples, walked, swam, eaten spicy food and forced DH into sex a couple of times.
Come on baby!!!!

smilesallround247 Thu 01-May-14 17:41:32

Ah cupcake I've done the same. I don't want to see another pineapple!
The sweep went ok but im just waiting for any twinges or movement :-/

Cupcake11 Thu 01-May-14 18:07:25

I haven't got a sweep until Wednesday - do they hurt? Hope it kicks something off for you!
