Aspirin 75mg

I've just been prescribed 75mg aspirin due to pre eclampsia in previous pregnancy. Dr didn't say much though, and I stupidly didn't ask any questions!
Were you told anything to be aware of? Can I still take paracetamol if I need to?

I have been told to also due to family history, my sister was on asprin for a heart condition ( so know a bit about it) and you are fine taking paracetamol just be careful taking other medicines as sometimes it's a asprin based pain killer, all 75mg will do it thin your blood x

And If you cut yourself just be aware it will look more than what it is as it's obviously a bit thinner x

You can still take paracetamol. Low dose aspirin is a blood thinner and I expect you have been prescribed it in order to keep your blood pressure down. What you can't take is aspirin painkillers and ibuprofen but you aren't meant to have those when pregnant anyway.

Excellent thanks. I bleed loads anyway so that will be interesting!
Never taken aspirin before.

Nose bleeds are fun on 75mg of aspirin! I've had lots now! I've been on it since 13 weeks!

I am taking this, no strange effects so far. Hopefully it will keep my bp down!

I am on 150mg aspirin and 20mg clexane. I'm a clumsy so and so...like the Muppet chef when cooking and shaving my legs... Cutting yourself is not that scary - I've hardly noticed the difference tbh! Grin

A couple of things some people get: nose bleeds, also spotting (ALWAYS see a doc for this to confirm it is just the thinned blood) and when you're constipated you can bleed a bit more than most when you manage to poo. All harmless.

And some folk get no side effects at all.

You can take paracetamol, and as you'd have to ask the doc/pharmacist about anything stronger, I just let them know what I'm on. The reason you shouldn't take aspirin as a painkiller when pregnant is if you don't need it, it could lower your bp. So most things that you can't take say "avoid in pregnancy" anyway! (Other side effect, check-out staff querying every time you buy it once you have a bump. Grr. Always use a pharmacy - where they'll know, or £land, where they don't care! I can't take the free NHS ones so buy the easy-swallow ones. Still cheap.).

I have the same, as im high risk due to bad kidneys, And i have no problem in taking paracetamol with mine. I take mine before i go bed along with my propholactic. If your really worried then speak to someone but i read the leaflet on mine and it says paracetamol an cocodamol are safe to be taken with them as there not pain killer x
