Can you eat peanuts while pregnant?

I have a feeling you shouldn't because of the risk of nut allergy. I had a thai curry with them in today and want to know if i should steer clear in future!

I've been told by my midwife to avoid peanuts because my partner has an allergy, having said that i forgot in the beginning and kept eating things with peanuts in. Now ive stopped and that all i fancy eating!! im sure the odd meal or snack wont hurt

If there are any allergies in either family (inc hayfever, asthma, eczema) then you shouldn't eat any at all, or you run the risk of your baby developing an allergy. If there are no allergies in the family then it is up to you - still some risk but much less so.

I had no asthma, eczema or allergies in my family and two perfectly healthy kids. My 3rd child has peanut allergy as well as egg, dairy, wheat etc that he has outgrown. All three pregnancies/breast feeding I ate peanut products esp peanut butter. Allergy specialist advised that the proteins can affect unborn baby and breast milk. Your risk of baby being nut allergic is low but after my experience I would avoid all nut products. Nut allergy is usually lifelong and can be life threatening so worth avoiding for a little while ime.

we have no known allergies in the family, therfor midwife said it wasn't a problem eating nuts, i ate nuts during both pregnanies, none of them have an allergy to nuts

How do you define family though? What about a neice having a nut allergy?

If your neice has a nut allergy, I would definitely exercise caution and steer clear.

We have hayfever, asthma and eczema in our family. My son has all of these plus food allergies. It's absolute hell. Do all you can to avoid your child getting any allergies otherwise you may end up feeling guilty and an allergic child totally defines how you live.
