How long before the birth did your nesting urge start?

Just curious Smile - I've had an insatiable urge to clean and tidy everything for the last couple of weeks now... Only 31+2 so could have ages yet, but have had a feeling for a wee while now that she may arrive early. Disclaimer : I'm well aware that said 'feeling' is probably a complete load of bollocks! Grin

Hello OP

I can't remember exactly to the day, but with all three of ours it was within the week before.
I seem to remember it being less with dd our third dc.
I'm not sure if many people are similar or if it varies a bit.
Good luck.

I didn't experience any such urges and DD arrived 10 days late!

It didn't. I sat on the sofa unable to summon the energy to move until DS arrived at 42+1

Wih all 3 of mine it started around the 30 week mark, dd1 came 39+3 dd2 40+4 and ds1 is hopefully if these contractions are anything to go by, although I'm thinking not as they are very unpredictable going to arrive soon and I'm 36 exactly today.

It didn't. I went 12 days over with DD and was induced and am now 7days over with DS and doesn't look like he's turning up anytime soon and have zero urge to 'nest'.

Mine came and went throughout the last trimester also had the strongest urge to bake (something I never do) I must have baked about six cakes in one afternoon!

I'm 36 weeks today and I've wanted to clean everything in sight for the past couple of days, if it stays still long enough I'll clean it haha! With DS I didn't start nesting until the week he was due (ended up being 13 days late) so I've got a 'feeling' that this one might come early, DP seems to think so too, hope not because my section is booked for the 6th May!

Rm about thirty weeks. I did some serious work, possibly fifteen black bags to charity and every cupboard and skirting cleaned. But it was more stress that things wouldn't fit rather than nesting. However, the morning I went into labour I bought paint and repaired all my outdoor lanterns and containers Grin

No nesting for me, but I hate cleaning! I did feel like baking, but I think more in a quest for sugar than any real nesting urge. It didn't seem to have any effect on DD's arrival, she started trying to put in an appearance at 40+5 and finally turned up at 40+11...

On and off throughout the third trimester but incredibly strong in the couple if days leading up to the start if labour. With DD it was hard core gardening (which I never really feel motivated to do). I'm now 38+2 with DS and that gardening urge came back full force today - plus I scrubbed the garage door inside and out :-| I hope its a sign, the neighbours think I've gone quite doolally!!

I never got the nesting urge, which was extremely disappointing, as I had a list of things that needed doing as and when it began! DD was 16 days late and forcibly evicted, showing zero signs of wanting to be born.
Three years later, I still have that list of things to do, plus more. Lets hope it kicks in this time! (I'm 37 weeks now)

Nesting? A myth in my opinion Grin

Poor DP spent a whole day cleaning while I was in hospital after my EMCS, the house was a pit Blush

It didn't here either, but maybe that's because my dh hired a cleaner when I was 35 weeks pregnant as I could not move and my dh couldn't be arsed with cleaning on a weekend :)!!

I never felt the urge. DS was born at 38+5 (36hrs after a midwife told me Id go to 41 weeks...)

This thread is panicking me now! I'm only 24 weeks and the urge to clean everything has kicked in! Really hoping nesting isn't linked to labour as far too soon for that as far as I'm concerned.

Hey op at about 30 weeks I went on a mad nesting urge which lasted for about 2 weeks. Now for last week I'm 40 weeks tomorrow I've been at it again. This time cleaning cupboards etc. poor hubby has been giving lots of jobs to do to lol my front and back gardens look lovely lol and freshly painted skirting boards all over house. Glad he's so supportive. I've been up since 5 and plan to sort out draws full of junk today. Please make it stop lol I'm not normally like this lol I basically do the basics. I don't even have and washing to do it's all done lol

I need help.

Hope it's a sign Grin

Im currently going through it now. I absolutely love the smell of my floor cleaner. I have mopped the kitchen and dining room and my husband has done the bathroom today. Im about to get in a relaxing bath and I am considering running a sink full of hot water with some floor cleaner in so I can smell it whilst im relaxing... Blush (37 weeks tomorrow)

My nesting involved writing a list of things to do before the baby arrived. I put the list down and then went out. Dd was born that evening and I came home the next day to my list with nothing done.
