Craving the bad stuff!!...

I'm 20 weeks pg with 2nd baby and all I want to eat is crisps and chocolate!!

I did this when I was pg with ds and I put on nearly 4 stone and gained a spare tyre around my middle! I managed to lose most of this weight before getting pg again (although the spare tyre remains!!). I promised myself that this time around I would eat sensibly but now that I'm in this condition I just can't seem to help myself.

I really don't want to battle with an excessive weight gain after I've had this lo as my size really got me down after I had my ds and I don't want to go through that again. Not only that but this baby needs some nutrients. I'm guessing that people are just going to tell me not to be such a greedy cow but I'll be glad to hear from anyone who does have any real advice or can share a similar experience so I don't feel so alone!... Thanks.

shop online and just don't buy crisps and chocolate. if it isn't in the house you can't eat it.

I'm 10 weeks pg now and the only food I can keep down is crisp and cheese, everything else just makes me really sick.

I'm also really craving tuna/mayo and peanuts it seems to be the stuff I can't/shouldn't eat are the things I want.

I was the same with my first pregnancy 4 years ago and I put on just over 3 stone that I never lost so I really don't want to put on much weight this time.

Can't really advise just wanted you to know you're not alone.

Take a pregnancy suppliment, this should help with the cravings as if your body is getting the right vits, it won't crave the additional stuff!

I had exactly the same thing! I went to see a homeopath and the stuff she gave me really helped - within 24 hours!!

Jensmum, it's OK to eat tuna as long as you don't have more than two medium-sized cans per week, because of the mercury content.

I've eaten peanuts - not deliberately, but it's hard sometimes to remember all the things you're not supposed to have. There's no history of nut allergies in either of our families though, so I'm not going to worry unduly. We were travelling in the car on Saturday and I was starving, so opened the glove box to see what I could find, and unwittingly ate about 10 peanut M&Ms before remembering I wasn't supposed to have peanuts. Oh well - too late now!

My MIL (ex-midwife) told me not to worry too much about eating a balanced diet while I was suffering with morning sickness. She advised just to eat whatever I could keep down - the baby would take what it needed from me regardless, and I could make up for any rubbish food later on when I was able to eat normally again. Luckily my sickness only lasted a couple of weeks but I lived on chicken and gravy pies during that time - baby will probably be born in a pastry case!
