Any else want to hurt the woman on OBEM who was 'devastated' when she kept having boys?

I mean. What???
Clearly never lost a baby or desperately wanted one and couldn't have one. Very very annoying.

JRmumma Tue 08-Apr-14 07:02:24

Little bit yeah. Made me angry when she said how she had waited for this day all her life, best day ever, was disappointed everytime she was told its another boy etc.

Emberlina76 Tue 08-Apr-14 07:03:24

I'm only 10 mins in and its winding me up.

kinkytoes Tue 08-Apr-14 07:07:20

Yes. I can see a lot of resentment building in that family in later life. Couldn't believe some of the things coming out of her mouth.

whereisthewitch Tue 08-Apr-14 07:10:30

I agree. ..she actually shocked me what a total ignoramus. She had 4 healthy boys yet the best day of her life was just because she got a girl?
I do understand wanting a particular sex especially if yoy have had a few of the same (it wouldn't matter to me though?) But to go on tv and make such a big deal of it was wrong.

All this 'mother and daughter' crap is winding me up as well, my Mum died when I was on mat leave with my son 8 years ago. She was only 53. Clearly not anyone's fault but keep bloody focussing on 'you can't survive without your mum' and 'daughters are for life' - yeah whatever.

Sendintheshiraz Tue 08-Apr-14 07:12:37

My favourite bit was when she was talking about the gender scan - "we knew it was a girl as you couldn't see a nutsack"

nutsack?? Classy.

Still, the wuvely ikkle girl will have all the pink shoes in the land hmm

Emberlina76 Tue 08-Apr-14 07:15:21

She's acting like she's been trying for a baby for 10 years and been unable to have one. She has a football team of boys by the sound of it. Just horrible.

ipswichwitch Tue 08-Apr-14 07:24:45

So if "daughters are for life" does that mean my sons are just for Christmas then? (God I hate that saying)

Emberlina76 Tue 08-Apr-14 07:26:01

Well exactly. Just because you are a girl doesn't mean you will have an amazing relationship with your mum, forever. Actually tends to be the opposite with a lot of people I think.

buffythebarbieslayer Tue 08-Apr-14 07:29:54

Horrible, dysfunctional attitude. It'll come back to bite them.

Makes me want to hug my ds. Of course he's for life. I fully expect one day his wife will come first but then my dd own family will come first too surely. It's right and natural.

But I'll always try to be the best mum I can for both of them equally.

Agreed, she came across as moronic

Emberlina76 Tue 08-Apr-14 07:38:34

I have a DS age 8.5 and am currently 33 wks with our DD. All I hear from people is 'oh you can stop now that you have one of each' - thanks for that. I'm stopping after this one as I'm 37, have lost 3 babies, have waited 8.5 years for this one, not because I have one of each. I could give birth to a frigging cocker spaniel and I'd still be stopping. Morons.
My relationship with my son is amazing, he's just a complete joy and we are very very close. Just because he's a boy doesn't mean that we ignore each other! Raaaaaa!

Lj8893 Tue 08-Apr-14 07:40:23

I didn't watch it but from what you lot are saying, she sounds awful!!

Also, my mil has 4 girls and 1 boy (dp) and she's closest to her son, her two eldest daughters only really ever see her Mother's Day and Christmas!

Katecake Tue 08-Apr-14 07:47:06

I couldn't believe the bit when her husband said if it was a boy he wouldn't be keen on having anymore to keep trying, and she responded that she would kick him out and find another man!!! It was shocking

I do understand that people may like one of each etc but really the most important thing is a healthy baby, must be very hard to watch for people who have lost bsbies, struggle to even have one etc!

I have 3 of the same sex and I couldn't be happier, I'm pregnsnt with my 4th and other people seen to want/or think I want a differentvsec this time, when in fact I really don't care I would be equally as happy to have 4 or of same or different sex this time!

Think you just need to be grateful for whatever you get!

Ploppy16 Tue 08-Apr-14 07:53:01

I do actually know someone like this IRL, they were very open about the fact that they would just keep going until they got a girl. 4 boys later then they found out they were expecting a girl wnd they bought every pink sparkly thing they could find... She is the biggest tomboy you could imagine 5 years later grin
I couldn't help smiling a bit.

JumpingJackSprat Tue 08-Apr-14 07:54:30

I haven't seen it so I'm not sure what she's expecting but in my experience girls who have lots of brothers tend to grow up as Tom boys.

whereisthewitch Tue 08-Apr-14 07:56:32

She also said that if she'd had the girl first she wouldn't have had any more, because her dream would have come true.

Oh and there's no way she was only 33, she looked 45!!

ImBrian Tue 08-Apr-14 08:02:27

I have 4 of the same sex and I'm expecting number 5. Why people feel they have the right to ask if I was trying for a boy/be devastated if it's another girl etc totally escapes me.

LJBanana Tue 08-Apr-14 08:12:11

I've just had 3rd DS and the amount of people who've asked if I'm disappointed, will try for a girl etc is mind boggling.

Yes I'm devestated that we've been fortunate enough to have 3 healthy, happy children. I'm at the point of challenging the next person who says it!

BuggedByJake Tue 08-Apr-14 08:16:13

It was awful to watch. Clearly her boys are always going to come second.

SaggyAndLucy Tue 08-Apr-14 08:22:58

personally, if I had had DD1 first, she would be an only child. She was a proper little bugger! confused

Nahmate Tue 08-Apr-14 09:42:51

Saggyandlucy - I say exactly the same thing ! :D

Forago Tue 08-Apr-14 09:48:35

I thought she was an idiot. anyone that's experienced pg loss knows that too.
