alternative hayfever remedies?

I'm 6 weeks pregnant and apparently shouldn't be taking any antihistamines at all, so I stopped when I tested positive last Monday. I've been sneezing and blowing my nose every 5 seconds since. Does anyone have any advice about alternative hayfever remedies? I heard that nettle and camomile might work, also bee pollen tablets, and I was wondering if anyone had tried these.

Congratulations lazyemma, that's great news. I had the same problem last summer when pregnant with DD. Go and see your GP, there are nose sprays and eye drops that they can prescribe that don't affect you in the same way as antihistamines, which I have used this summer as I was breastfeeding. I was taking loads and loads of antihistamines for the first six weeks before I found out I was pregnant, was doubling the dose as thought I was tired because of the hayfever... didn't realise it was DD, and DD is fine, so I wouldn't worry too much about those you have taken. As for the alternative things you mentioned, I have not tried them, as my hayfever is of the like-a-stinking-cold variety... but the nose sprays and eye dops are doing the trick for me.....good luck with the pregnancy and the hayfever!

thanks lemur! it's reassuring that you took loads of antihistimines before you knew you were pregnant, and everything was OK. I will ask about nose sprays when I see the doc on Friday - my hayfever is of a similar variety to yours and I'm getting extremely pissed off with this constant sniffling and sneezing.

Nettle tea is the way to go! Fresh is best but dried is ok too. Also locally produced honey.

I'm sure I read that bee pollen tablets are great for all sorts of ailments.

Good luck, I know how debilitating hayfever can be (not me but my brother - he recommends nettle tea)
