More often I am finding myself checking the time in bed and it being past 7am and I haven't slept yet! I'm 17+3 and just wondering If this is common or others have experienced the same? Please let me know, thanks x

Im 19+3 and haven't slept in weeks. I can't get comfortable no matter how many pillows or cushions I use to prop myself into position.

I hope you manage to find a cure for your insomnia

I'm a big girl anyway and baby too is making sleep a thing of the past ;( are this preggo pillows any good or waste of money?? Feel free to pm me or post on here if you can't sleep chances are I'm awake too!Wink

Unfortunately it dosent et any better Confused 33 weeks and I'm still suffering. Lack of sleep is making me grumpy and irritable.
I've found that having a massage relaxes me and I get a good nights sleep after one. Helps me 'catch up' in a way. May be worth splurging or asking DP/H?

flymo79 · 25/02/2014 12:56

ooh, massage, that's a lovely idea. I will see if DP is prepared to give that a go!!

I really struggled with sleeping and my friend told me to get a pregnancy pillow. I thought it was a bunch of talk, but finally broke down and bought a Dreamgenii. I can't believe a pillow could change my life! It has made such a difference. I was a tummy sleeper and it somehow has made it possible to fall asleep and stay asleep. I read a bunch of mixed reviews before buying it though so it's not a cure for everyone.

Later in pregnancy it is obviously discomfort and sleeping positions that keep us awake but why now!! I can still happily sleep on my tummy...it must be the hormones?

Ditto for me - 15+6...

I'm on a waiting list for pregnancy yoga and someone else on here said it really worked for them. Have you thought about that? Or hypnobirthing relaxation CDs?
Good luck

Guess what.... I'm still wide awake! Thanks for all your suggestions and advice. I'm thinking of getting a preg pillow hopefully that will work! I will ask midwife at my appt if she knows of any miracles!
Already tried warm drink, smellies, yoga, meditation/yoga and soothing music Hmm what's wrong with me!?!?! Hmm

Nope, sorry! I'm 32 weeks and haven't hada. Full nights sleep for ages (well, 7 years actually ;) )
I think it's natures way of preparing you for what's to come.
Gradually building you up to get used to little or no sleep!

It would be a bit cruel to have you sleeping soundly for 8 hours right up until the birth!!
Just nap when you can Smile

Hi I am currently nursing my lo who is 4 weeks old! It does get better, have hope. I had awful insomnia at times. i found a mug of hot water before bed, white noise and preggo pillow did the trick!

Good luck and learn to nap!!

nearly 18 weeks and having the same problem, can't sleep!!!
7th pregnancy and first time this has happened to me
I wake up at the strangest times and fall back to sleep after 4-5 hours.
I can't seem to find any position to feel good enough and fall asleep. Keep tossing and turning!

I'm 37+4 and had some insomnia around 20 weeks and now have it again. I have a cold which is not helping as my left sinus and side of my jaw is painful when lying down. So I've been awake since about 3 and have given up and come downstairs. I know I'm going to be exhausted later but it's too late to go back to sleep now as my other two children will be up in two hours.

Waves

Sympathy to you all! Hello 4 am again!

MummyPig, surely it's never too late to go back to sleep? I often pee at 5.15 and our alarm is set at 6... My biggest period if awakeness is in the 3-5 zone... Then sometimes if I'm lucky I can drift off for 45-1hr before alarm.

MummyPig24 · 27/02/2014 04:37

I will never be able to drag myself out of bed if I fall back asleep now and I will be in a foul mood which isn't fair on the kids.

Report
icklekid · 27/02/2014 04:40

clearly I'm with you will always try and go back to sleep even if just for 45mins! Made it till 4 this morning :-)

I'm the exact same. Only 5+2 but waking at 3.30am every night. I'm blaming it on needing to wee, or feeling hungry or just all the various worries going around my head.

ClearlyMoo · 27/02/2014 07:47

Inmybelly congratulations on your pregnancy! Is this your first? I couldn't sleep (or focus easily at work) in the very first few weeks after finding out my brain was working overtime! I initially found the whole concept completely bonkers!!! It gets easier though mentally! I was lucky(?) my first trimester sickness was sleeping so I was averaging 10+hrs/night from about 7-17 weeks!

Report
MummyPig24 · 27/02/2014 08:03

Congrats inmybelly!

I started to nod off around 6 so I got some breakfast. Fed up of heartburn, can't wait for that to end.
