Ok so I'm 40+9! I am having lower back pain and have been for the last 30 or so hours, managed to sleep last night but woke up every hour or so with pain. Tonight it's coming at the front aswell! It's painful but not yet what I would say regular. I've been trickling water since last night (this could potentially be pee I am not sure) lol I totally don't trust my judgement at the moment oh and my lady bits feel like someone has kicked her with steel toe boots on??? Any advice greatly appreciated dont want to phone and feel silly if it's nothing x

Worth a phone call, best to check if it is your waters I'd say. Hope all goes well

VivaLeBeaver Sun 16-Feb-14 22:16:35

Put a pad on and see if it smells like wee. If still unsure you need to be checked as you should be induced after your waters have gone, normally after 24 hours.

The pains at the minute don't sound like you're in established labour as they'd be more frequent and regular. But it sounds like things are hitting up which is good.

Belle2808 Sun 16-Feb-14 22:18:35

It smells quite sweet, dh could smell it in the car? Guess I'm holding off incase they make me go in and I end up there for days in half labour! X

VivaLeBeaver Sun 16-Feb-14 22:21:01

Sounds like your waters. You need to be seen as the risk of infection raises once they've gone.

daisywaisydoo Sun 16-Feb-14 22:21:20

If it's your waters they'll need to induce you within 24 hours to prevent infection, I'd go in if I was you!

Bornin1984 Sun 16-Feb-14 22:21:24

Sweet smell tends to be waters! I think you should go be
Checked
Out! As pp said if it is u will need
Inducing if labour doesn't establish and potentially anti biotics as u are
At a higher risk of infection if it is waters!!

Good luck

Belle2808 Sun 16-Feb-14 22:23:25

Ok I shall phone them now!! Urghhhh scary thought I may actually now give birth lol!! Thanks xx

SomethingOnce Sun 16-Feb-14 22:25:10

My notes say to contact labour ward if you think your waters have broken.

So, if you think it's been as long as 24 hours you should def call right away and expect to go in.

Good luck!

SaucyJack Sun 16-Feb-14 22:30:23

Sounds promising to me.

Good luck. You can't have too much longer either way xx

Whereisegg Sun 16-Feb-14 22:32:40

Yes just give them a call, and good luck!

CristaBell Sun 16-Feb-14 22:37:49

Good luck Belle smile x

Belle2808 Sun 16-Feb-14 23:15:29

Oh god got the pissiest midwife ever!!!! I've to take a hot bath and paracetamol and phone if my pains become at all regular! Why do they have the ability to make u feel like a silly 5 year old! Urghhhh x

Bornin1984 Sun 16-Feb-14 23:17:59

In all honesty I wouldn't accept that
From her !!! Especially if u think waters have broken! U need
To be examined
Even of ots to confirm they haven't broke and await events!! I would ring back

PrincessPotsie Sun 16-Feb-14 23:24:36

I'd hang on til the morning if I was you and phone back then if you still think you're leaking waters. There's no huge rush to induce you. I waited for 3 days after mine started to break with DC3.

V excited for you Belle!

PrincessPotsie Sun 16-Feb-14 23:25:22

Oh and hope you get some proper pain tonight......feels a bit bad wishing you this though!!

Belle2808 Sun 16-Feb-14 23:25:28

Yeah I'm going to time the pains over the next hour and try again if I get her think I will just go in x

Bornin1984 Sun 16-Feb-14 23:27:09

I'm sorry pp but there is a rush to
Be iduced if waters have gone... Infection levels are higher and riskier and antibiotics are needed!

Conflicting
Information I guess! Hope your baby comes soon for u op

Liveinthepresent Sun 16-Feb-14 23:35:18

OP inyour shoes I would just try and rest as best you can - at 40 + 9 you are going to have a baby soon.
The policy around induction after waters breaking varies significantly between hospitals and without medical intervention eg physical examination risk is even lower. I waited about 60 hours - but this is unusual the vast majority of people will have given birth by then.

If you are worried then read up and insist on going in in the morning but for now being at home is probably more likely to kick start things.
Good luck - it will be amazing however it happens.

Belle2808 Sun 16-Feb-14 23:46:25

I've never wished for pain so much in my life lol!! I will hold on for a bit n see how the night goes, no way I can sleep I have ants in my pants! It really sucks first time because u have zero clue what to expect!! Thanks for all the advice and well wishes smile x

Bornin1984 Sun 16-Feb-14 23:48:58

Belle2808 Mon 17-Feb-14 00:01:27

Tranquilitybaby Mon 17-Feb-14 01:16:52
