What are you missing this pregnancy?

I'll preface this by saying that I'm actually really happy to be pregnant (it took a while to get here) and I realise I'm very lucky to be in this position. However I am really missing some things this pregnancy and feel like having a bit of a whinge.

In order of things I am missing the most , right now I'd love

a) Wine. Red. Lots of it
b) A stupidly hot bath, the type that makes you feel a bit faint when you step out of it
c) To go for more than an hour without really needing a wee
d) The ability to read anything even vaguely upsetting without wanting to cry. I feel I'm going to have to spend the rest of the pregnancy in a cultural void.

Anyone else missing things and feel a bit grumpy today? I'm only just in the 2nd trimester so it's not as if I'm in the horribly uncomfortable stage either!

Being able to sit comfortably on a chair. Or lie comfortably in bed. Or lie on my front (usual sleeping position). I'm 38 + 4....

Suzietwo - (sorry, lost Internet for 2 days, thanks BT, and only just catching up!) - the pate is because of the very high vitamin A content mostly, with the listeria risk a close second.

I'm having dippy eggs for dinner :-) Eat and ignore the ill informed NHS..

DitaVonCreamTeas Mon 10-Feb-14 11:51:50

In no particular order -

Sex (don't fancy it)
Wearing my collection of lovely lingerie
Pate
Brie
Henney's vintage cider
Doing my own pedicures
Hair dye, nail varnish and perfume (I know it should be fine, but I've been keeping away from them)
DH picking me up and squeezing me
Being able to turn over in bed without it being an exercise in advanced logistics

I've not been too restrictive with foods, still eat loads of runny eggs, have the odd glass of wine etc.

I've missing being able to move around freely though. I'm 36 weeks and starting to feel really cumbersome and heavy. Also missing sleeping on my back, sex, cocktails and being able to groom my bits without nearly putting my back out grin

DownstairsMixUp Mon 10-Feb-14 10:29:44

I still have a bit of caffeine but miss vodka, procesco, runny eggs and I really fancy pate on toast! I'm only 10 weeks sad

Suzietwo Mon 10-Feb-14 10:22:46

crispy - like you i eat and drink most things including pate. but your post has me wondering why you dont! can you illuminate?

ziggletttwiglett Mon 10-Feb-14 08:30:06

Oh the list!

Rare steak preferably still mooing!!
runny dippy gloriously golden eggs ( I think this might be a craving of mine or just because I think I shouldn't have but reading these posts is making me hopeful!)
Not feeling queasy/sick or just plain rubbish
not weeing myself when puking
having the energy to have really good sex.. being farrr to lazy sad
relentless energy drink never drank lots just fancy one
being able to stay awake or alert for more than an hour!

Not being pregnant in a nutshell...

swampusdonkus Sun 09-Feb-14 23:16:29

Being able to touch the batch of slow gin/slow vodka we made in September. Ditto cocktails.

Fitting into my nice, matching-set underwear.

Being able to snuggle up in bed.

Being able to sit up from lying down without having to plan it/psych myself up first.

bouncysmiley Sun 09-Feb-14 23:05:33

Lie-ins

yummystepford Sun 09-Feb-14 23:05:19

Also, missionary is becoming impossible. I am going to miss this massively sad

yummystepford Sun 09-Feb-14 23:01:06

I'm only 22 weeks and if I increase the frequency of needing a wee I will be spending all my time in the loo! Getting uncomfortable, not sleeping, can't believe how big my bump is and am fully aware of how much time I still have left. Completely sympathise with you. Treat yourself to lush bath bombs to make up for having to have it a bit cooler smile x

SpawningSalmon Sun 09-Feb-14 22:48:59

I am fairly sure I read nhs guidelines stating you can have rare steak, as long as it is fully sealed on the exterior it is fine. I hope I didn't just dream that as I have been regularly tucking into lovely steaks cooked medium. Yum.

I miss my clothes

I miss being comfortable in bed

I miss having energy past lunchtime.

35 down, 5 to go!

SicknSpan Sun 09-Feb-14 21:16:18

A nice cup of tea. Used to really enjoy a cuppa and just can't stomach it now. I miss enjoying tea even though the thought of it turns my stomach!

Brushing my teeth properly. Anything non-food in my mouth makes me hurl. Plus any flavour toothpaste including kids fruity stuff is horrid. It's a bit better now at 24 weeks but for a long time I was going a week between brushings. Vile. Hyperemesis means that I will do anything to avoid triggering the sickness, bet my teeth are ruined now sad (hence us preggos get free dental care no doubt)

TMI- Giving my dh a blow job. For same reason as not being able to brush my teeth. (Think he misses it more though to be fair)

Getting up from a chair or sitting down in one without making an oomph sound.

Sitting in a chair without looking like Les Dawson, knees apart hands folded over bump. So glam.

stressbucket1 Sun 09-Feb-14 20:53:03

I miss having a lap! My DD can no longer sit on my knee cos bump takes over!

Also miss goats cheese its usually the first thing I choose from a menu when we eat out.

And being able to turn over in bed in less than 3 moves and a lot of huffing and puffing.

Legalbaby79 Sun 09-Feb-14 20:23:33

Gin, champagne, bottles of beer .... Squishy Brie, prawns - shellfish . .... Normal pants

Em1503 Sun 09-Feb-14 20:22:28

Pate!!!!!! Can't wait to be able to eat it again!!

Sleeping comfortably and all through the night.

Ibuprofen (as paracetamol just don't cut it when I have a headache!)

CrispyFB Sun 09-Feb-14 20:17:02

Decent painkillers.. although when not pregnant I don't usually need them.. SPD is a total killer.

Along similar lines - being able to walk for more than five minutes or sit on a chair, or drive more than 15 minutes without squealing in agony.

Agree about the congestion medication restrictions too, very much so!

I still drink small amounts of caffeine and booze, eat runny eggs, stilton, baked camembert, parma ham, sushi etc etc. As this is DC4 I've had plenty of time to thoroughly look into everything and the food restrictions are really not that bad if you do your research. Wouldn't catch me with bagged salad (allowed..!) or pate, mind wink

Most of all I miss skiing!!

CumbrianExile Sun 09-Feb-14 20:03:09

grobags thanks for that. Eggs are on the shopping list for next week grin
Yeah, I know about the wine. But a small glass isnt cutting it against the usual couple of bottles large glasses I would usually have!

PenguinsDontEatKale Sun 09-Feb-14 17:55:39

Oh yes, decongestant. Haven't been able to have decongestant for winter colds since early 2008.sad

eurochick Sun 09-Feb-14 17:50:49

Wine
Hot baths and steam rooms
Running
Sex (had lots of bleeding so far, so we've been too scared to dtd yet!)

PervyMuskrat Sun 09-Feb-14 17:48:29

Glad to know I'm not alone. I've read the "Expecting Better" book so I'm ok with the odd glass of wine or beer but I want the bottle (followed by a lovely drunken fumble with DH)!

Oh yeah, I'm missing sex too. The only time we've had sex, I bled and as I'm Rh negative ended up having to take a day off work and have the Anti D injection. Not something I want to repeat too often.

I'm finding hot Ribena and a couple of paracetamol ok for those of you also suffering with colds. Olbas Oil on a flannel next to the bed is the only thing I've found to help with nighttime congestion though.

Suzietwo Sun 09-Feb-14 17:48:10

Freedom of movement

Am not a happy preggo today as my older two children are driving me bonkers and I can't remember when adding another seemed like a good idea!
