Hi,
Since about 21 weeks pregnant ive been able to see my tummy move when the baby kicks. But ive read in a magazine yesterday that at 29 weeks you will start to see this.
Is this right? did anyone else see the kicks earlier than 29 weeks?

Hi kbaby, 29 weeks seems a bit exact - I would have thought it perfectly reasonable to see movement earlier too (after all, you have!)

My bump sort of jumps when the baby moves. Didn't at 21 weeks as I didn't have a bump then but it sure jumps now. Did the magazine mean that at 29 weeks you can work out if it's a hand or a foot that is moving?
I don't remember my first baby moving as much as this one and to be honest I don't look to closely when the bump is jumping around as I find it creepy, but that's just me.

I remember seeing movements when I was in the bath, not sure when though. But after 25 wks for sure.

I've definitely been able so see a ripple movement when the baby moves for several weeks now (am 30 weeks). But more recently - last 2-3 weeks - I've also seen a bulge from a hand or foot or whatever. The ripple has increased so that I can sometimes see it through thin clothing but don't think I'd see a bulge unless I was undressed.

Think its got to depend on a lot of things also - size of baby, position, activity levels, size of mother etc.

I am must have a alien inside then. At first it just started off with slight jumps and carried on like that for a few weeks but now it seems to have 5 minutes of madness and moves from side to side and jumps about. I cant make out if its a hand or foot though. I was at the doctors today in the waiting area and my whole stomach was moving. Even a old man sat next to me commented on it. Ill have to ask my midwife if its normal to be moving so much and so violently!!

I saw DS1 move at 19 weeks or so, just before the main scan. It was obviously him as a limb poked out the side of my tummy!!

I could tell from quite early on with dd1 as she was in the transverse position. This was because i have an abnormaly shaped womb though and movement is very restricted.

i started seeing my jumper move from 21.4 weeks (to be exact- was sitting in a sales meeting watching it!).

I'm nearlly 23 weeks pg and have felt baby since 19 weeks and seen my stomach move at 21 weeks also. This baby doesn't keep still and is sometimes positively violent - I hope this is not a taste of things to come

I am almost 21 weeks and had a wonderful time in the bath last night watching my tummy do somersaults in response to me ticking it!!!!

When I laid on my back in bed, I could see my DD (my 1st) moving from before 16 weeks. But, this time 'round, there's definitely an extra layer of podge between baby and the outside world so I saw it move for the first time today (just over 16 weeks). By 20 weeks last time, limbs were realy clear to see - but I never could work out what was what! I have a friend who's bigger than I am, and she didn't see her baby moving 'till quite late on. There are so many variables, I really don't think there can be a right and wrong time

....just a thought. Was it in relation to kick charts? I think although it's sometimes easy to see/feel them from early on, you can't neccesarily feel or see a 'regular' pattern until later on?

Thank god it sound's normal. I was starting to think that I really was going bonkers. Thanks everyone for the reassurance.
Is anyone doing kick charts. My midwife hasnt mentioned anything and each book I read seems to have a different way of doing them.

I don't recommend this as a way of getting your baby to move - but I went for a wax today for the first time since I've been pregnant - and the baby was jumping about all over the place! So was I - it was agony!

There is a kick chart on the back of my maternity notes but nobody has told me to fill it in and I didn't fill it in last time either.

I noticed that it says to start counting at 9am and keep track up until 6pm. Well my little bump moves around before 9am then seems to go to sleep for the rest of the day and wakes up at around 8pm and wriggles all evening until I go to bed. I'm hoping it won't actually do this once it's born.

When my bump starts coming into action at about 10.30 pm, DH chastises it and tells it to go to sleep, Linnett. I was given a leaflet from the hospital saying that if I hadn't felt movements four times between waking and 2 pm I should contact the midwife. This is from 30 weeks I think.

I'm up at around 7am every morning and baby moves around between then and 9am. I do feel the odd movements when I'm at work so I'm not worrying as it is moving. But it just seems to move more in the evenings rather than during the day.

Was talking to another mum today who has two children and she said the first one used to move during the day then sleep at night. the second one used to move around at night rather than during the day. Results..First child likes her bed, second child is a real night owl. Ooh what have I got myself into, lol

My boy bump bounces around all day long so must be a fidget bum like his Mum! I get very obvious lumps like a head or bottom plus the usual flutterings, rollings, jumps etc., DP is fascinated - which is great because it means he has lost interest in whether my belly button has popped out or not!

He gets lots of hiccups too which is disconcerting . . .

My first baby had hiccups a lot of the time while she was inside me. She even had Hiccups while I was in labour!

I haven't noticed this baby having hiccups as much but does happen now and again.

oh god the hiccups were strange at first. It took me a while to figure out what it was. Bump now gets them at least once a day.

Isnt the belly button gross. Mines just started to pop out, the top of it is now even with my belly. I decided to put fake tan on last week hoping it may make my bump look slightly more attractive and hide all the veins. I woke up the next day to find that it had all collected around and in my belly button, I then had to go for my mw appointment on Friday with a belly button that looked like it needed a good wash. Dont think ill be using fake tan again
