Just drank gin by accident, 38 weeks pregnant - advice?

I was soaking my rings over night in a small glass of gin and this morning when I came down half asleep to pour myself some oj managed to pour it into the gin and ring glass rather than the other one I had got out for it ! I know it's probably a silly question and my feeling is it will probably be ok but I thought i better check and see what you all thought. I was about 3/4 through and thinking it tasted a bit funny and bitter when I saw a ring at the bottom and realised !! Any advice or should I not worry ? I am 38 weeks pg now.
What a plonker !

A one-off isn't going to do you or baby any harm -- how many ounces was it? Can't imagine you had more than a double, and might have that normally in pregnancy, if celebrating something.

Thanks ladies. No wonder he's not moving much this am ! Probably permanently grinning as he floats in my tummy ! Probably a double Zebra no more and was mixed with oj. Hmmm am feeling a bit hazy !! No rings swallowed luckily My 2.5 year old did wonder what an earth I was doing when I spat my oj down the sink when I realised

tillysmummy, i really wouldn't worry, it's not like you had that much. i think the danger of alcohol in pg is mainly through cumulative exposure anyway. have a good day - off to an excellent start i'd say!

I tried drinking Gin to get DD out when I was overdue, and it didn't work!!! So, I know you'll be fine, don't worry

how much would everyone here normally drink when preggers?

I'm normally a wine gal, but I can't face it anymore. However, I've been out twice in the last 2 weeks and had 2 drinks each time (both a single measure of spirits).

Ooh! Sit back and enjoy, your baby might too. You are fine. If you are not suffering from alcohol poisoning, then neither will your baby.
A little drink in the last trimester is O.K. It helps you relax and will help you to prepare for those wonderful years ahead when you will be drinking for other reasons!!
Seriously I am sure all is O.K. I did a similar thing with my first, I drank a whole bottle of Ginger wine and was told that it was non-alcoholic.....20minutes later I was lying on the floor finding everything very funny much to my dh's disgust-he has never let me forget it. My ds I am certain was inside enjoying everydrop!!

I'm 33 weeks and was out at a black tie do last night sitting next to my obstetrician who happily poured me 2 reasonable glasses of wine (prob 3-4 units in total) so its obviously fine. You'll have been much better off drinking the gin than jewellery cleaning fluid!

I think I've hard something to the effect that 4 units per week is okay during late pregnancy. I've been having a beer (just the one)a couple of times a week (yes just twice) during the third trimester.

have some more! the danger is only really in the first trimester and even then it's in large amounts (ie a small glass of gin isn't going to hurt anything).

My dr thinks 8 units a week is ok - not all at once of course. I drink 1 or 2 every 2-3 days.

You will be FINE so don't worry.

That's why my head is so sore .... I ACCIDENTALLY drank lots of gin last night too ...

What's it meant to do to your rings though ??

I drink gin and tonic sometimes, am 35 weeks pregnant. Also drink wine fairly regularly but only 1-2 units a night, and not every night. I see it as a cultural thing, French mothers drink and their babies are fine.
Have had large healthy fine babies.

While I did feel for you, I laughed out loud when I read about the gin, sounds like the sort of thing I would do and DH wouldn't believe it was an accident!
Seriously, I think it's a personnal choice and cultural thing. Personally if I open a bottle of wine I can usually finish it but the thought of wine (am 17 weeks) is quite stomach turning - DH really got the hump with me a week ago as he popped some bubbly with friends to celebrate something and I wouldn't have any. Female friend didn't help by going on about how she drank and ate mussels all the way through her pregnancy and was fine etc... but I have vivid memories of having 2 glasses of wine around about now with DS and throwing up the next morning into a carrier bag on my doorstep beacause I couldn't get back into the house quick enough and had to take the day of work - no thank you not this time.
The anti drinking police in NZ also make you feel guilty for walking down the wine aisle whereas a close friend of mine had her first baby in france and was encouraged to have a glass of wine every day for the babies health!!
