Headaches :(

I'm 26 weeks tomorrow and struggling with massive headaches. I had bad headaches at the start, at about 13 weeks, and I thought they were bad but they're nothing compared to the ones I've had since about 22 weeks onwards.

They're extreme to the point of having to stick a pillow over my head at their worst because any light at all is absolute agony to my eyes, it doesn't throb but it pounds and feels so full like it's going to explode, it's made me cry and worst is, they're lasting for four or five days at a time, and they are relentless - there are moments where they're in the background, I can still feel them but can concentrate on other things, and times when I just have to turn all the lights off and hide away. They make me feel sick and dizzy and giving me blurred vision and like lights or spots in front of my eyes. I tried to go shopping during the last one and very nearly fainted in the middle of ASDA Sad

I know advice on here isn't the same as getting it from a doctor, but I didn't want to kick up a fuss at my last midwife appointment and I'm not really sure how to go about mentioning it to them. Did anyone else have this and what did it turn out to be?

How is your blood pressure? Could this be indicative of pre-eclampsia, even though early? Not sure, but definitely tell midwife tomorrow.

Definitely tell your MW and speak to the gp...if anything they can prescribe you cocodemol which I had in my 1st pg due to migraines, sounds like you're having migraines.

I had severe headaches and was able to get acupuncture on the NHS. Is this a possibility? It really helped.

Catsize It was a constant 130 over 70, but it's started dropping the past few weeks, and midwife didn't seem concerned by blood pressure so doubt it's anything like that.

whereisthewitch I'm guessing the 8mg codeine ones are safe? I have 15s and 30s left over from a kidney infection last year but wary of taking them as they had such a strong effect on me and knocked me out, I'll try and get some 8s if I can.

mummra Doubt it in my area, they're making cuts galore Sad .

My doctor is a bit dismissive (everything is "well that's to be expected in pregnancy, all you can do is put up with it" from back pain to bronchitis) but I've got a consultant appointment on Tuesday, should I mention it then? My next mw appointment isn't until 4th Feb.

Moomin grab some 4head roll on...it's the only thing that helped mine and fortunately they haven't bothered me since about 24 weeks. Def hormone related.

Moomin I can totally sympathise. I've suffered throughout and I had them that bad that for two days I was sick on and off it was that painful. 4head is worth giving a go, or get a bag of ice or peas, wrap them in a tea towel and put them on your head. It suppresses the constant pain a bit. I too thought it was preeclampsia, bp very similar to yours but mw didn't really care. I suffered a horrendous cold/chesty cough for nearly 2 weeks, gp didn't give a monkeys very dismissive Hmm
