elective induction?

Im 25 weeks pg with baby no2, i was induced with DS as i had so many problems and spent my 9 months in hospital, to prevent me getting ill again i have been put on a form of heparin which i have been told i have to take untill i go into labour no matter what.

I have also been told that if i have my injection of heparin then go into labour within 24hrs i cant have an epidural as its to risky inserting needles into my spine with my blood being so thin.

This wasnt a problem with DS as i knew what date i was induced so i could arrange with my hemotologist and my obstatrician to reduce the dose of medication right down for my epidural.

This time im am thankfull (touch wood) having a very easy pg with no problems which means i can naturally go into labour, but im terrified of not having an epidural, i really couldnt cope without it last time, i know im a whimp but i do honestly think if i hadnt had it last time DS's birth would have traumatised me for life i DO NOT do pain well at all.

I asked my midwife about a possible elective induction on or just beofre my due date so again i can arrange my medication around my epidural, i keep having panick attacks about the labour (which is silly i know i never even thought about it with DS)
She said i had to discuss it with my obstratician, anyone ever asked to be induced for any reason and was it granted???

Have never done this but it sounds a reasonable request to me.

Yes, I did - I had PIH (pregnancy induced hypertension) and my bp was up at the end. My OB was twitchy and talking sections, and gave me the choice - set a date for induction, or set a date for section. I set a date for induction (ended up with a section anyway, but thats another story) at 39+4 weeks...

Sounds reasonable to me, too: I would definitely talk to my OB about it, good luck!

Well I've known of women having inductions so that the baby arrives before Christmas/the Consultant goes on holidays, etc (not in the UK I have to say!) so can't see why it souldn't be possible for you.
