Am 36+2 and so far haven't had any braxton hicks that I'm aware of at all... all my pg friends seem to have had them before now. Just wondering if it's usual or means I'm likely to go over 40wks or what. Forgot to ask midwife at last check.

Is this your first baby? With my first I didn't have ANY BH and was 10 days overdue. With second I seemed to have BH from about 16 weeks and was 11 days over.

Not sure if there is a link between BH and going overdue, but there certainly wasn't in my case

Yep, it's the first. Have actually been terribly laid back about it all so far and think I'm just looking for things to worry about.

Not an expert by any means, but I didn't feel any braxton hicks at all, not one little 'tightening' or 'ripple' or anything. Ds was born naturally at 39 weeks, and my contractions felt more like period pains (all down below) when they did start. I don't think I'm that unusual. I'm sure your midwife will say the same. Good luck!

Hello 2labs,

I only got proper BH the day before I gave birth and I gave birth at exactly 39weeks. Before that I had had the odd twinge but nothing exceptional.

My mum on the other hand did get BH but went over 40weeks with both me and my brother. So I wouldn't worry.
