I'm 27+3 and for the past week or so I've felt a heavy pressure in lower abdomen/private area and an ache in my inner thighs.

I've had a bad cough for almost 3 weeks and wonder if it's related to that or not.

This is my 3rd DC and I'm starting to worry.

Has anyone else experienced this?

Much thanks in advance.

Sounds like SPD Sad mine started around the same time. The GP referred me for physio (not that it was much help to be honest!)

Thanks, Em.

I've actually just been discharged from the physio for back troubles.

These are new aches I've not felt before - even through my previous 2 pregnancies. There's always a bulging feeling inside - as though everything's about to drop out.

I'm now worried I have an incompetant cervix...

I feel like this, almost bruised feeling around my 'undercarriage' and very achey? I'm 23 weeks and felt like this for a few weeks. I had to have an internal scan this week and I felt so tender and sore I wanted to cry.

Following your thread with interest. Hope it gets better!

Hi, womma.

What did the scan show? If you don't mind me asking.

Could it possibly be prolapse? This is fairly common to some degree after multiple pregnancies.

It certainly could be, Smithy. That dragging/pulling/about-to-fall-out feeling sounds about right.

Hopefully, the MW will exam me on Wednesday and confirm what's happening, if that's possible.

Hello wux - there was nothing, I was told my cervix looked fine. I didn't mention it to the sonographer, I'm waiting to see the midwife at the next appointment in a couple of weeks.

I had this with my last pregnancy, but much later on.

For what it's worth, when I had incompetent cervix with DC2 (waters bulging, under 3mm of cervix left) I felt no pressure at all.

I'm on DC4 now, and since DC2 I've felt pressure and had subsequent scans only to see a perfectly "normal" (well, with the stitch I have) cervix.

Having said that of course if you are concerned you should really call somebody. No harm done if all is fine after all. Just saying it is probably all okay!

I have my MW appointment today.

Do you think she'll do an internal to see what's what?

She may do, hope it's not too sore if she does! Will you report back to us?

Good luck!

Hi, womma

Well, she said I need to see the Dr who may do internal or send me for a scan and, to be honest, I'd rather the latter. Also referred me to physio. Again.

She said it could be to do with the awful coughy cold I've had the past couple weeks and maybe my pelvic floor has been over stretched - this being my 3rd pregnancy an' all.

Now, actually trying to get an appointment with the Dr...

Thanks for letting me know. Hope the doctor can give you some help. I might try and get an appointment with my GP rather than hang around for my next midwife appt. I feel like I've done a million squats!

Oh, and a rotten cough will play havoc with your pelvic floor!

Managed to get appt with doctor this morning. She did an internal and said everything appears to be ok, but sent me to delivery suite just to make sure.

Was hooked up to monitor machine: everything fine.
Urine test: fine.
Internal: cervix looked good and closed - nothing unusual. .
Fibronectin test: negative.

Doctor told me there's nothing sinister and pressure/pains all normal in pregnancy and to take paracetamol.

I feel better that all is normal, but not looking forward to another 12 weeks of this discomfort :(

How you feeling today, womma??

Hello, that's good news that you're okay and you were wise to get checked. It's just a bit tough sometimes when you have to just get on with it isn't it?!

I still feel like I'm about 20 months pregnant with quintuplets, I feel much bigger and unwieldy than I am. And my bladder seems to have lost all sensitivity, so I only know I need a wee at the very last minute. I'm sure all of this is normal, but it's uncomfortable and not very pleasant is it?

Hope you've got your feet up wherever you are! xxx
