Pregnancy

Is this a sign of anaemia?

Hi everyone
I'm 21 weeks and over the last few days have had this constant urge to take a deep breath. I am also yawing loads to compensate. I remember this sensation from my last pregnancy (and then it got to the point where I couldn't take a breath deep enough) but I was taking spa tone every day and my iron levels were normal. It was just put down to one of those random unknown pregnancy symptoms.

Anyway this time around I haven't started on the spatone yet but I'll go and get some anyway. Just wondering if anyone had any ideas as to what could be causing it, I have googled and all I can come up with is low iron count (and something terrifying about blood clots which I'm sure doesnt apply to me as I didn't die from a thrombosis last time around with these symptoms!)

Thanks in advance

It could be, i had very similar to what you describe, when i tried to take a full deep breath it just wasnt enough. Ask your midwife to check your iron levels, they can get results same day whereas my gp took a week to get resuts.

I was low (10.5) but not classed as anemic around 24 weeks but took spatone anyway and now i'm 11.5 at almost 31 weeks.

Thank you cake. I've also thought it could be b12 deficiency as that runs in the family. Do they test routinely for b12 in the booking bloods? Does anyone know what the abbreviation I should look for on my results?
