Have my friend here. Please tell her this is an evap line?

She tested here this morning with a normal First Response test which said could be used from the first day of missed period. Her period isn't due until Thursday, but she's been feeling sick on and off for the past week so decided to take one as she couldn't wait any longer.

After 2 minutes, she showed me the pink control line and I told her that it was negative (which she was relieved to hear). But upon closer inspection, still around the 2 minute mark, she saw an extremely faint white line. I told her that this was normal, it was just the line where the dye would go if positive. But she snapped the thing open and got the test strip out. There is definitely a silvery white line next to the pink control one. This is an evap line, right? She's not pregnant, especially if her period isn't due until Thurs?

We've just taken a picture of it, so round about 10 minutes after she peed. but this is the same line we could see right away.

Hopefully this link works to the pic. She's just created a tinypic account for this.

Say I ovulated on day 14, fertilisation took place on day 15 and I had a baby 38 weeks later.

Say I POAS every day from day 14 onwards.

Clearly, even if there was a 'line' every day, some of those were negative results, no matter how pregnant I ended up being. At a certain level of hCG, the tests were negative; a point was then reached at which they showed positive. That doesn't mean the early negatives were positives.

I don't think it's a line, FWIW.

It's colourless. I'd say it us an evaporation line.

Ah see I was actively try g to conceive. Plus the tests I used were Internet cheapies and very sensitive so not exactly the same. I have no idea if your friend is pregnant but you really do have to come back and tell us when you know for sure.

"Never have i been so happy to see my period" was the text i awoke to this morning from my friend.

Yesterday she did two of the Boots tests; both were negative. So those First Response ones were definitely just indentations/quickly appearing evap lines.

If the line has no colour it's an evap. That is an evap line. I see your friend has got her period wine

Glad your friend got the result she wanted!

just use this as an opportunity to remind your friend to be more careful. i know its a bit babying but it was obviously not wanted (if thats the right wording) so perhaps there needs to be some friendly words to see if there is anything you can do to support her.

Op said friend used a condom, I assume the test was as she had felt sick and then stressed herself that there was a 1% chance the condom may have failed.
