shell that sounds exciting!! in fact i met a friend for lunch yesterday, she has 2 babies and said that for both, she had reflexology and the next day they were born!!! sooooo i know what i'll be booking in for when i'm ready :)

on a more 'i'msofuckedoffrightnownote i just cried the whole way home from work. you know how when you give in your matB1 form, your employer is supposed to write to you with details of when you are due back after leave / pay etc etc ....well i still haven't had this eventhough i have asked on numerous occasions. i don't even know how i'm going to be paid my maternity pay (we are normally paid by weekly cheque, but if you aren't there on a friday then you don't get your cheque without begging for it on your return). if i'm honest, i'm more worried about not getting may mat pay than i am about giving birth. my boss is a complete fucktard and this is seriously stressing me out this afternoon. i can feel my blood boiling and i really need to calm down but can't

Janie I have had enough of your skanky boss and company now. You have given them notice, and they are being out of order. You are in Ireland aren't you? Or have I made that up? I would send them a strongly worded email about gaining legal advice (even if you don't intend on doing this!) because their crappyness is not okay!
I am good on the uk law with this one, but not so much with Ireland. I can look into it if you need help though, is making me v angry!!

thank you pink x i am in northern ireland so still uk. i've told them it's a legal document that i was meant to receive 28 days after giving the mat b form (gave them this on 6th august). one guy started hand writing a letter in pencil and when i stated that the boss said he'd give me more than the stat pay he stopped and said he'd have to check with the manager. i printed off an email that i sent to the manager with what was agreed verbally and his reply saying 'yes as agreed' and still nothing. aarrgghhh. i was told i would have it by the close of business today so i waited on until then, when i went in and asked for it i was told there's no chance of me getting it today as the manager wasn't coming back in. totally fucked off and now i've told dh and he's fuming too. happy friday my hole! sobface :(

Okay, over the weekend write them a letter, setting out what you believe has been agreed and that you need a response from them within 48 hours. Say that you are massively concerned that they have already missed their legal deadline as an employer, as if for any reason they are not going to pay, you would have a delay in getting maternity allowance (I don't for a second think they won't pay you but you need to justify the threat)throw in undue stress on baby too.
Then say if you don't have a reply withing the 48 hour deadline, you will be taking legal advice for them not following their statutory obligations as an employer.
Of course, this is no more really than what you have already said but putting it in writing adds more weight, and will hopefully (given how dodgy you have already said they are) scare them into putting your letter in writing!!

That's what I would do anyway. Obviously you know the relationship better than me, so if you think it easier to play nice, that may be your quickest route to a resolution, but it sounds like you have already tried this.

Sorry it's so stressful for you :( it's totally unfair and stinky of them!

yup shell, sadly he's turned into the meanest man on earth in the last few years. i can't wait to get finished up. i think i'll start looking for something else towards the end of my maternity leave. now dh has just said that he thinks he won't pay me at all and is now saying we'll lose our house. nice! might just go to bed and bury my head in the sand and try to forget about it until monday morning.

on a totally posifrickintive note, whatever happens, i'm going to have a lovely little baby in about 5 weeks who i will love more than life itself and that's all that really matters

Work has been mega stressful this week and now MIL has turned up for weekend. Sneaking to the pub with a friend later leaving DH with instructions that if she talks about pitching up on week 1 of new baby that he is to say the midwife has advised no visitors in first wk due to the anxiety I suffered last time totally made up but if i was my mw that's what I would advise

So I told DD about baby last night. Said 'you know how mummy's tummy is big...' And she said 'is there a baby in there' and looked quite pleased :) we chatted a bit about babies for a while then she said 'oh look a monkey' and hasn't mentioned it since

You will not lose your house, janie. Your employer will pay you - keep telling yourself that. My employer (a big 10000+ employer) fucked up my maternity pay too- didn't find out what I was going to be paid till about 3 months in! But they paid me anyway. You can always send your DH there on a Friday for the first 2 weeks to get your cheques or witness them doing the online banking!!
