Pregnancy after an eating disorder?

Does anyone have any experiences/advice?

I'm 16 + 3 and having a hard time with my body changing (I now have a quite visible bump although haven't really gained any weight yet) and making sure I'm eating enough to keep me and baby healthy without worrying about extra calories etc. I've been in such a good place for a good couple of years now but my body being out of my control has really thrown me.

I'm feel so grateful and happy about this pregnancy, I just wish I could enjoy it without this constant worry. I'm planning on speaking to my midwife this week but if anyone has anything they can share I'd be so appreciative.

I'm further on but suffering similarly. My best advice is to put your scales away for the duration, and try your best to ignore anyone who comments on your shape/size, although that's easier said than done.

Maternal fat burning (ketosis) can inhibit baby's growth, according to my mw. That was enough to shock me into eating little and often. I try to make sure I get my food groups every day, and avoid foods that only do one job (eg beans have protein and fibre, sweet potato has carbs and vitamins).

As distressing as it is, I think one has to try to suspend one's body image issues during pgy as a little person is completely reliant on you. That's scary.

Do talk to your midwife. Mine has been utterly lovely about it.

I wasn't aware about the effect of ketosis so I'll definitely try to snack more. I just want to make sure I'm doing the best I can for baby!

Thank you so much for your reply :)
