Pregnant with copper coil

Hi, I found out a few weeks ago that I was pregnant with a copper coil in place. I have had an Early Pregnancy scan and there is a viable pregnancy. This is my third pregnancy, I have two babies already. The copper coil is not in my womb (why it didn't work) its in my cervical canal. Have been told that they see no risk to carry on, the coil should fall out on its own. I am very worried. My husband is too and thinks something might be wrong with the baby if we went through with the pregnancy. Am I being naive to think everything will be ok? Have not slept all week and am feeling very unwell. Just looking for advice or experiences. Thank you x

:-) thank you. I am just worried. I don't know what to do for the best. They have tried to remove the coil but couldn't and don't want to mess around up there too much. We are worried about if it will have effected the embryo. I feel like they haven't reassured me very well.

I was thinking about getting the coper coil until i fell pg with this dc. I mentioned this to my female consultant i was under following a gynea op and she said dont bother as she had a six year old dd at home that was the result of a copper coil, hence it had'nt worked.
But her dd was fit n healthy so it did'nt affect the pg. This consultant was a lead consultant in gynea issues so it might be reassuring to know she went ahead with that pg knowing potential risks (if any).
Congratulations :-)

Thank you for letting me know. It is reassuring. I spoke to the doctor today and she was as positive as the consultant. Here's hoping all is well. I am having early symptoms, morning sickness etc so hopefully that's a good sign. :-)

I don't think the copper coil affects the foetus in the way a mirena coil would as there are hormones in the mirena coil. Hope your pregnancy goes well

I think you are right. They also said because its in the cervical canal away from the foetus it shouldn't. My husband is not loving the fact they are saying shouldn't. I am trying everything to reassure him. Feel like I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place. He is so worried. Any ideas of ways to reassure him would be appreciated.
