Fingers crossed for lots of happy scans and boring pregnancies.

I didn't want it to be me starting the next new thread again but I popped in and saw we were on 999 so thought I'd better use the last post for a link.

We could do with an updated stats list too, but its possibly too long these days!

Hooray omri for a happy scan and a lovely wriggly baby :) and lovely girl news for you liesl I really want another little girl so I can use all DD's pretty things again!

Hope all you poor ladies with utis and thrush feel better soon. There are so many unpleasant side effects to pregnancy!

I'm just back from such an encouraging mw appt at vbac clinic. I feel way more positive now particularly as we can choose a cut off point (they recommend 41wks) - if I go into spontaneous labour before that I try vbac, if things haven't happened by then we go elective section. I kinda feel like that puts matters in baby's hands and I like it! We don't have to take final decision til 36wks and mw thinks we can have a reassurance scan to check position is def head down at that point to help decision. Most exciting of all they have a wireless monitor now so IF it was free I could even use it in the pool :-O

Just checking in so I don't loose you. We've had a really busy day visiting a fire station and doing ballet and now making lasagne for the girls (and freezer) It's been a very very welcome distraction, I almost forgot I am pregnant! I'll be back later to catch up.

thanks for the new thread santa, we are a chatty bunch :)

congrats on the great scans today!!

so i saw the old man gp, he was so sweet. he asked how i was and i just blurted out that i was fine although i have noticed a bit of a smell in my pants when i pee.... start the mortification. i explained to the poor man that it was a bit like sweet bleach - and he said there were some white cells in my urine sample so would send it off to get tested but it could be just usual extra discharge and possible overworking sweat glands etc etc. so after discussing my stinky chuff with him, he went on to say he new my parents and used to treat my grandparents!! CRINGE!!!! i really should be more mature but seriously...i just wanted the world to swallow me up!! he was so old that he didnt even use a doppler to listen to the baby's heartbeat, he had a big long plastic trumpet thing with one end on my belly and one at his ear! but it's ticking away anyway so i know that;s all that matters! so i'm none the wiser but have to ring up next week for results! luckily the gp is retiring on monday so i'll never have to see him again ....unless he pops up at a family party!!

Thanks pentagon & pixie! It's been lovely telling friends & family.

Forgot to say scan showed I have a low anterior placenta so I have got to go back for a scan at 34 weeks. Hopefully it will move up. It's got to move 0.5cm . Sonographer was optimistic and said not to worry. Does anyone have experience with this?

Lies I have expiearience with moving placentas (although not a low lieing one) it's very common for them to move and (normally, unless your me) no problem at all and happens all the time. I'll be willing to place a bet on yours moving up by 34 weeks x

Hello new thread!

Congrats Omri and Liesl Grin

Janie I'm loving your old school GP with his hearing device! Could have been worse; he could have asked for a butchers and then discussed your family connections! Wink

my baby has moved! Grin Grin Grin bum up head down now. I highly recommend handstands in the pool to anyone with a transverse one!

janie well done on asking - I'd probably have chickened out. I had a hot Dr when I had to go into hospital when I was leaking fluid, how fun having a chat about whether I'd peed myself or had excess discharge. He was also the Dr who did my ERPC. I don't think hot men should be allowed to be gynaecologists!

great news PFJ and omri and liesl welcome to team pink Grin

thanks for new thread santa. It's funny what you were saying about names, I have a name that cannot really be shortened and I don't like that. So I guess (from our extensive research!) it's best to give the full name on the birth cert but make sure it has good NN options.

Fantastic scan news today ladies. Each one of you who has a good one is one less for me to worry about! Confused
Great news about your wee Janie. I suppose I ought to take my own advice now!
I am proper laughing about all you youngsters chuckling about the ear trumpet! Its called a pinard and has been used for centuries! A bit like listening to the neighbours through the walls with a glass! [Grin]

Congrats liesl and omri on fab scan news! That's brilliant! omri hope it's ok telling work - I've got the same thing tomorrow - told my boss last week and one other colleague already - but have to tell my colleague tomorrow who's been trying for a baby for ages and has had two early miscarriages. Going to tell her at the end of the day before I leave so she can be a bit sad if she needs to be. And we've also had massive upheaval at work because someone else has just gone on mat leave (had her baby yesterday) so it's weird telling people because it will mean more upheaval for them in April, when we're all just about getting used to how things are now! So I completely understand what you mean about getting funny reactions.

I'm with you other ladies on the bloating. SO uncomfortable.

janie loving the gp ear trumpet story Smile

Marking my space amongst the fellow batsh*t crazies!

Sorry to hear you're feeling crappy kat. Good news liesl and omri.

Can I get a straw poll on testing, please, unless this question would be too weird for you ((saggy)), given you're right in the thick of it at the moment. DH and I think we won't test (me 35, standard risk of any abnormalities 1 in 240, of Down's Syndrome 1 in 380). We didn't with my first (I was a total foetus in age, so didn't), and turned it down with DS. We got a bit of pressure from the old hospital so we changed to a different one (all this guff about 'oh, but the range of disability can vary, it can be really difficult'). We said it would make no odds to our decision, so there was no need for us to know (whilst utterly supporting every woman's choice re this with no judgement in any direction from us).

This time, I'm a bit older. I've worked with children with LD in the past (not a great deal), DH works a lot with children with LD, so we have a good idea of what the harder end looks like (because the folks with no problems don't bring their problems to us, IYSWIM). We just don't know. We wouldn't be doing headstands going 'yay' if we knew the baby had a genetic disability, but it doesn't feel strong enough to want to risk mc after an amnio (which I get the real willies about). As I wouldn't want the amnio, should I not have the bloods (due end of next week/start of week after)? I think it might make me worry, but then it might help me accommodate ready for the child we'll make space for.

Getting lots of pressure at the booking appt and my first 'own allocated' midwife appt about deciding - told both I don't have a fricking clue. Midwife 1 tells me that I should be deciding based on what my existing children would do when I'm dead, as the burden will be on them. This was exactly the problem focused attitude of the midwife at my DD's booking in that made me want to bite people. That isn't a reasoned space for me to explore my feelings, that's the midwife's own decision if it were her decision (which it's NOT - raaah!).

Sorry for the total saga. And so terribly sorry if this is not okay for you at the moment, saggy, if so just pop a line on, and I'll ask no more.

It's such a difficult question tea and I suppose it's hard to give an objective opinion rather than what you'd do yourself - so, entirely subjectively, we did go for the blood test and would have had amnio as well if risk came out high, because we would have wanted to prepare ourselves. but i can see that if you wouldn't have the amnio it might just create needless anxiety over blood results. does your hospital offer harmony test if risk comes out high, prior to amnio? (my hospital - kings in london - does). Or would you consider doing harmony test privately? from what i understand it gives you either very high or very low risk so you're then much better equipped to decide for or against amnio.

liesl I had a low placenta last time and had a repeat scan at 35 weeks by which time it had moved up. I think it does 99% of the time!

ah janie bless - he sounds like a sweet old man! And he knows your family...small world!
