Pregnancy

Is anyone up? Reduced movements @39 weeks what to do...

Hello,

I'm 39+1 with my first and yesterday lunchtime the bump went really hard and has stayed hard since with a bit of an ache, like the feeling of bloating. DH can hear the baby's heartbeat but he isn't moving much.

We are in Spain and my Spanish is crap so I don't know who to call/how the system works. Should I drive over to the hospital now and see if anyone will help me or wait until morning and call the midwife during the doctors opening hours?

Hi op

I think you should head to the hospital, I'm sure everything is fine but always better to get these things checked asap. Besides you'll only be up all night & stressing otherwise.

Hope everything is ok

Head to the hospital, don't forget to take your hospital bag with you, could be the sign of labour. Good luck!

Firstly, don't panic, everything's almost definitely ok. BUT I do think you should go to the nearest hospital now. Just to put your mind at rest. I was told with DS (had a few probs in pregnancy) to go straight to a & e if there was reduced movement.

Sounds like baby is ready for the big day.

If you've had a straightforward pregnancy and heart sounds OK I wouldn't worry. If it is making you anxious then go to the hospital.

I would get checked out too because of the reduced movements.

Oh, and from my translator app, this:

Me preocupa que he tenido reduce los movimientos fetales durante las últimas 12 o más horas. Me gustaría una exploración por favor para ver al bebé.

Means, this:

I'm worried that I've had reduced foetal movements over the last 12 or so hours. I'd like a scan please to check the baby.

Hope this is some help. Smile

Thanks so much! Back home now after a good stint on the monitor, everything fine, no signs of imminent birth and we think the pains and hard bump are trapped wind! Blush I feel very reassured though and can get to sleep. And they spoke English - result!!!
