I had a 3D scan done on Friday, i am 31 weeks, and on alot of the pictures and on the DVD the cord is over the babies shoulder right by his neck, i know it is probably silly but this has really bothered me and made me panic a little (hormonal lol) can't stop thinking about it tbh thinking he is going to choke himself...i know its stupid ...what do you lot think? Please put my mind at ease.

I've never heard of a baby being harmed by his cord while still in the womb. Ds was born with the cord wrapped tightly around his neck, the midwife told me to pant and not push, while she clamped and cut the cord between contractions. Ds was born completely well and safe. My mum was also born with the cord around her neck. Not uncommon, I think, but all part and parcel of giving birth and the midwives will be completely competent to deal with it.

Hey, you're pregnant - you're allowed to be anxious!

pucca, my dd was born with the cord round her shoulder, it did mke things a bit hairy but the mws are well able to deal with it. as you're having a cs it shouldn't really cause any probs unless you go into spontaneous labour and baby starts to travel down and puts pressure on it. even then it's something they're very used to dealing with and most babies are fine. midwife didn't even know with dd til halfway through pushing her out!

The baby can't choke himself while inside though can he? this is what i keep thinking about, and everyone who has seen the pics has said "is that the cord around his neck??" which has made me panic more!

My DD had her cord round her neck when she was born and she was blue, She was perfectly fine tho and all ok. MW told me that it is pretty common. I wouldn't worry about it, when you go into labour your mw will know and she will reassure you.
