Pregnancy

rash after peanuts; cold sores

Is everything dangerous for you when you're preganant? At 19 weeks pregnant:

  1. I ate a bag of nuts yesterday (about 75g all for me, ahem). I had a rash on my arms and neck in the evening. I guess that's a danger sign? I've never worried about eating peanuts in pregnancy - no allergy history in the family - and you'll go mad if you follow all the 'rules' to the letter. Now I'm a little worried about triggering something in the baby. Is that likely? No more nuts from now on?

  2. The pharmacist won't sell me Zovirax for my cold sore! He gave me some other stuff, which burns my mouth. It also doesn't help much - since I'm now getting another cold sore ont he other side of my mouth. Any bright ideas? Or am I just going to have to put up with my whole face being swallowed up with cold sores (and not kissing DH for weeks on end)?

  3. Even if the answer is 'put up with it' - can I have some sympathy for spotty and fat over here? Not enjoying being a 'fragile vessel' at the moment. Someone even tutted at me drinking Coke!

It's all bollocks. If you got a rash though then I'd stop eating peanuts, might be nowt in it, but might be summat an' all. Cold sores - use Zovirax and don't tell chemist it's for you or you'll get served nowt.
They're all scaremongering bastards!

I used zovirax when pregnant for cold sores and my baby was fine, it's just because there's not been a big enough study testing it on pregnant women. I only find zovirax goos at catching them early if they've come out try dabbing tea tree oil on them as it dries them up and makes them feel like they've had a good itch.

Thanks guys.

I'll have meat for dinner, kayzed. I am feeling run down, now you, mention it.

Perhaps mineral deficiency is why I'm craving nuts!!! I'm still sneakily snacking (albeit not on peanuts). Is that really irresponsible?
