indigestion, what do you eat?

29 weeks now and indigestion/heartburn has kicked in.

I had a wheat heavy dinner yesterday and was up at 1am sat on the sofa doing bile burps - nice.

So I shall be avoiding bread.

What do you eat and avoid eating when you have indigestion?

I've noticed no difference in acid varying on diet except that very spicy/greasy food is triple hell.

My general response is Rennie, then half an hour later eat what I.fancy. Somehow the food settles the indigestion (honourable exceptions as above) so I just have to soften the burn first to get an appetite.

Am 31w with DC3 and it's been like this every time. Relieves a bit if/when they engage though!

I'm 29 weeks too and terrible heartburn almost whole time. Grim. This is following / in addition to hyperemesis. Really fed up if my guts! I must admit to taking the odd ranitidine which a lot of the ladies on the hype remedies support link are prescribed (so is safe in my view). Nothing else works, even gaviscon which worked in my last two pregnancies. I do find wheat makes it worse but really it's fatigue/ weather/ anything that sets it off!

Even drinking water can trigger my heartburn :(
but i was like this pre pregnancy too, only helped by prescribed meds (omepresole i think?)

I find milk helps relieve it for a little while
Mmmmm gulp milkshakes @50p each :)

Hope u can find something to help settle it

I think I will be going with pre-dinner medication then! Also the milk. I now remember it helped the last times.

hyper and curly your situations don't sound fabulous. I hope you guys find comfort as well.

Cannot touch bread, pasta or coffee. No amount of Rennies will work so I just stay away from these foods. On the upside, I've hardly put on any weight this pregnancy!

Ice cream helps a bit.

Rennies are the only antacids which don't make me want to puke.

I am currently loving orange juice and even as I'm gulping it down I know I'm going to pay for it!

My heartburn started at exactly 29 weeks too! EVERYTHING gave me heartburn. All I could do was glug gaviscon (get it on prescription, ask for double strength). I must have drunk litres of the stuff in the last few weeks.

Yakult... I ran out on Monday this week and only got more yesterday and ouch, I'd forgotten how bad the burning was...

27weeks here and anything sets off my heartburn, finding it quire hard to deal with as I've never had it before. Like TobyLerone I'm guzzling OJ like its going out of fashion, just can't stop even though I know the moment I put my glass down I'll be suffering. I also hate rennie, DH got some of the extra ice ones and they are foul! I've found that activia pouring yoghurt seems to settle it a bit though, so I'm trying to drink that before main meals.

I've got peptac liquid (I think) from my gp, it's absolutely vile but amazing at calming my heartburn even though it makes me gag on the way down

I went to the gp and was given omeprazole as I was almost drinking gaviscon and it was doing nothing.
