Pregnancy

Someone bring me a fag and a pint of Carlsberg.

I'm 22+5. I'm hot and sweaty. My back is sore. I have the mother of all spots exploding on my chin. My sciatica is playing up and baby is kicking me swiftly in the bladder. I'm absolutely choking for a fag (quit when I got my BFP at 6 weeks) and a huge pint of anything alcoholic Carlsberg. Someone remind me it's all worth it! (Light-hearted) :)

He he. See no one answered yet;-)
I would bring you justst the one if I didn't think I might smoke and drink them before they got to you:-[
I know its hard but it is worth it !

i totally understand the fag thing.. i gave up at new year and i still crave a ciggie now and then... my cravings for it seem to have got worse recently (im 27 weeks). im sure its got something to do with summer... last summer id sit in the garden with a wine and ciggie in the evenings... n it became like a summer habit.
i feel awful bout the cravings though as a family friend died of lung disease (she used to smoke), and my beloved grandad (who used to smoke 60 a day but gave up 15 years ago) has just been diagnosed with terminal lung cancer. crazy just how addictive it actually is.
if i wasnt preg im sure i wouldve caved in by now Blush

Would any of us actually admit on mn that we had caved though:-\ ;-)
You are doing really well. Totally agree with the summer thing though!
Good luck with it :-)

Summer is tough - I daydream about cocktails, g and ts, anything! This is my second pregnancy and I don't remember having any problems resisting last time.

Only another 6 months to go ... and then probably several more months due to breastfeeding / being too tired to drink. Sob!

Wine...drooool.... My summer tradition consists of sitting in the garden on balmy summer evenings with a glass of red in my hand and its killing me not keepin up with this 'tradition'....
Luckily i never smoked so i feel for those of u who hav that to kick as well. BUT it is all worth it, honestly :-|

Alcohol free becks and calsberg are quite nice, and getting me through the summer.

I've got 3 weeks to go. DH has a post-birth shopping list including pate and camembert but with cider at the top in big letters.

Gave up smoking five years ago but have had quite a few cravings since being pregnant! Even next door's smoke blowing over the fence doesn't bother me at the moment.

I'm due in a couple of weeks and someone told me I can't drink afterward for 6 months if breastfeeding (depending on if it works out etc). I get this but I'm having a glass of champagne when this tiny boulder of heat is out no matter what. I carried him or her through a heat wave with no air con at work...I think he'll understand!!! Heroic stuff i know Wink I'm gagging for a drink tho - truly sympathise....

p.s. the non-alcoholic stuff just isn't the same.

Queazy... Read the fourth link down here. The one called Alcohol and Breastfeeding :) the advice you got is not very good!

Beer! I miss cold, delicious beer SO MUCH. Especially in this heat. I have had a shandy here and there, but shandy's just really aren't the same.

Queazy - Jolly is quite right - it is not the same as a baby feeding off the placenta - with alcohol passing over - in relation to BF. You can certainly have a glass here and there - best to time when you think your next feed is in a couple of hours if you worry - by which point it will be out of your system anyway. You can check with any midwife and doctor if you are worried too and they will tell you the same. Grin Wine

OP - I can't wait for a trough of pate, brie and vat of wine!

A couple of pints of shandy in a beer garden is surely ok? That's how I celebrated the end of term. I'm sure I got some judgemental looks from people outside my circle seeing the bump and pint. But it tasted oh so good. (On a side note, never felt so full and bloated after a couple of drinks!!)

From reading that link, the guidelines during pregnancy are the same as during breast feeding ie 1-2 units once or twice a week.

I heard someone here suggest once that the best time for a glad of wine is while feeding, as that way you have the longest gap before you feed again.

I'm 34+2 and haven't smoked in 5 years and I'd quite like a cigarette right now. (and a wee dram)

Go on. Have a beer. One won't hurt.

ooh I could kill for a freezing cold summer fruits or pear Koppaberg and a cig or 10. I've tried the alcohol free versions and they were a disappointment Sad

Agreed, alcohol free things just aren't the same :( planning to breastfeed, so it'll be a while before I get that fag and pint that I so desperately want Grin

Poppetty, I had a beer last week (DP's birthday) and I like to leave as much space as possible between my wee indulgences Wink it was only a unit, but still :p

I had a white wine spritzer last week. First alcoholic drink for 3 and a half months. God it was lovely! Whilst I don't have plans to drink until DC is born, I'm not going to beat myself up if I fall off the wagon once in a blue moon...

I have one koppaberg every saturday night!! its bliss and does no harm!

i quit smoking when i.found out too but invested in a low nicotine e-cig and it works wonders. Havent.craved a cig since! midwife says it shouldnt harm baby because of how low the dose is and it doesnt contain tar.. highly reccomend!! :)

The thing with the e-cigs that bothers me is that they're not regulated so nobody really knows what's in them. I was able to go cold turkey (no easy feat, I was on 20 a day) but the e-cigs are better than actual fags. Well done for stopping :)
