Should I call the midwife or have I just pissed myself?

TMI, sorry! I'm 20+5 with my first and I've just gone to the toilet and there's a fairly large damp patch in my pants. I have no idea if it's sweat (absolutely MELTING in this heat), pee or something I should get checked out. Any advice would be appreciated.

For some reason I KNEW before I even clicked on this that it was you Grin
Ring your midwife if you're ever in concern! I'm never off the phone to triage!

I think I've pisses myself daily but it appears to be that I'm just more 'juicy', sorry - didn't know how else to put it. Could it possibly be that?

Put a pad on. Lie down half an hour. Get up and walk around. Is there more fluid coming out? Have you got any pain? If so I would phone MW.

I'd call them too if it was a significant amount of fluid.

But you will produce more fluids than normal when you're pregnant anyway, to flush away any nasty bacteria that may be creeping up towards the cervix.

I first started noticing around 22 weeks.

Thanks a lot for all the advice, I've given them a call and I've to put on a pad and wait for a couple of hours, and if I'm still leaking I've to call them back. :)

Hope you're ok. I thought the same last night but think it was just sweat (no baby yet!!). Your post title really cheered me up. Oh the glamorous world of pregnancy...roll on August for me!

My waters broke at a similar gestation. I was 100% sure as I felt it come out in an involuntary gush, then a little while later another gush tinged pink. As the days went by there were similar smaller floods. I wouldn't have been able to stop it with pelvic floor muscles.

If you are at all worried, go in tomorrow and ask for a scan. An internal exam (with speculum or whatever) will not detect whether waters are broken at this gestation although may show if your cervix is dilating. You can have ruptured membranes and no cervical dilation.

I hope you are ok and it is just a weird pregnancy discharge thing. You may feel that you instinctively 'know' one way or the other.

I had the same at 19 weeks but it was like a gush of water and when I went to the hospital all was fine. But they did say I had quite a lot of discharge but that is quite normal, so try not to worry as it could be similar thing xx

Oh bless you. Next time just smell it TMi!!! Shock

Futterby · 18/07/2013 23:10

I did! Didn't smell like anything but I drink so much water that my pee is really diluted most of the time and doesn't smell that strongly. Not that I've got a habit of sniffing my pee!

Glad to hear everything is fine and you are just incontinent Grin

If it makes you feel any better, we went to a BBQ at a friends last night, and after telling my pissing-on-DH-after-trying-to-seduce-him story (posted on the embarrassing stories thread), we all got a bit hysterical...

... a few minutes later my friend pointed out the little puddle that had appeared underneath my chair.

I'm gald its not just me then. Agree that it is getting hard to distinguish between uber sweaty pants and wee in this weather. I've given up on wearing pads all day as they make me so hot. Spent last night feeling like a 2 year old without knickers on (after sneeze-weeing in them) then accidentally weeing on my foot/kitchen floor Blush sigh ... starting to have real sympathy for toddlers being potty trained!

Very pleased to hear all is well!
