Just been called by my lovely midwife to say that my LFT results are "deranged" and the registrar wants to admit me immediately. I swore to myself I would never spend another night in the Royal London Hospial, but it seems I have no choice. Doctor is saying it isn't necessarily Obstetric Cholestasis (because aparently that doesn't start until 32 weeks - my arse) so I am going in their armed with all my research and previous notes to do an education job.
Hopefully I'll be back soon. I know I wanted to leave work early but I didn't want to do it like this.....

Deranged LFTs could mean lots of things, lets hope that whatever they are indicating is the mildest possible and they just want to keep you in for obs.

See you soon, best of luck

Well that didn't take long.

By the time I got to hospital the registrar who had said to admit me immediately had left, and the relacement registrar agreed with me that there was no point in me being there over the weekend when they wouldn't actually do anything other than ctg monitoring until Monday am. So I promised to keep very aware of the babies movements and was allowed to come home as long as I go back first thing monday morning.

My boss is going to be so not pleased.

Thank you all
Bk - that's pretty much what dh said when I suggested I go into work this weekend to sort out all my outstanding stuff. I just feel really guilty about leaving things not completely straight.
cazzybabs - deranged LFT's are the description the midwife used - they did Liver Function Tests and my transeminase acid levels (ALT and AST) are about 10 and 20 times normal levels. It's an indication of a condition called Obstetric cholestasis which I also had last pregnancy and which can result in stillbirth.

As for your boss being 'so not pleased'....I'd tell him/her to f*ck off if they didn't like it. Tough titties on him (or her)
