I suffer with terrible back pain (before pregnancy too) an I always use either a hot water bottle or if I'm out an about those sticky heat pads that last 8hours, you can buy them in the pound shops or supermarkets as well as the usual paracetamol if its really bad

I'm following as I'm in absolute agony with lower back pain. Just been to the doctors to be told 4 paracetamols in 24 hours in definatly is fine in pregnancy. Im very reluctant to take so much but am at the end of the tether with it. Feels like my lower spine has actually split!! Any advice most welcome!

Suffering badly this pregnancy :( I find sitting on an exercise ball helps as does kneeling over the setter. When it got really had last week I went to the doctors who prescribed me co codamol.

My DR prescribed me codeine when mine was really bad - she said it was ok to take in early pregnancy, it's only in the last trimester they don't recommend it. Apart from that, hots baths, comfy chairs, not lying on my back and trying to take it easy! Good luck, OP. I'm nearly 35 weeks now and the back pain I had in first trimester is still there, but it hasn't got dramatically worse.

It is worth looking at what could be causing the pain. I had bad back pain in my last pregnancy, which was caused by walking dogs who pulled a bit on their leads, putting extra strain on my sacroiliac joint. A change of lead and the pain eased a lot.

Around 18-20 weeks is when relaxin kicks in and this was when my pain really increased. I'm also hypermobile so relaxin makes this worse and this increases my back pain so i have to be extra careful.

I use a hot water often to ease pain. There are support belts you can get from physio to help as well.
