More blood mislabeled?

Had booking in apt. Last week. Received letter from hospital saying they need another lot because there was an insufficient amount or the samples were mislabeled . Tried to contact the appropriate dept but no one there at the moment. Is it for the reasons they state or something else like maybe my hcg level has dropped and they need to retest?

mislabelling happens a lot as does the blood clotting preventing it being tested. not unusual.

Phlebotomist here Smile

Agree with the others. Either:
Mislabelled
Insufficient
Clotted specimen.

I am amazed, when putting specimens in the pod to tube to labs, how some of my colleagues label their tubes. I am always really careful even when we are busy and there are 150 patients in the queue, because a mislabelled specimen just means having to repeat it, a real hassle for the patient, and more work for us.

Check the labels before you go - I check everything! - the lovely nurse (absolutely painless) who took my blood managed to mis-label 3 of the 5 (my birthday was similar to her son's so she kept mis-writing it!)

Luckily she was experienced enough to know that these things happen, which is why there are procedures, and had me carefully check each one and I caught the errors.

Glad to know I'm not the only one having to repeat blood samples (and urine too!)

I thought I'd accidentally gone to the vampire hospital by mistake!

Smile
