apologies if TMI but has anyone had issues with sex in the later stages and abdominal pain after- I think from bump being in the way! She has gone mad kicking about and moved back under my ribs and now I have hideous ligament pains - like period pains - I think it is all fine - any advice on positions Confused Blush

I've found it quite difficult! The baby really doesn't like being jiggled and have ended up feeling like it's stuck right under my lungs! Have generally found sex a bit exhausting and uncomfortable as it's not easy to turn over or manouvuer hips.

We've resorted to 'afternoon delight' as this website calls it! (cartoon picture as difficult to describe)...

Lie on your side and put one leg under him and one leg over, means it's pretty easy to give your bump room!

Pahahaha. Love the cartoon karma! Lol.
I feel a bit mean sometimes, dh keeps trying his luck only to either get a flap of the hand (as if you were shoo-ing a fly) or I just laugh at him and say 'nice try, jog on' lol. Actually thought of letting him have his way the other day then thought better of it lol x

I had a bit of a panic the other day that sex might never be the same again, hence being quite determined to make it work at least for one last time! Otherwise we just stick to some hands only action, much easier all round :)

I LOVE the cartoon Crafty Grin

I think I was a bit 'determined' about it all - everyone I know said they didn't bother after 6 months, that their blokes found it weird feeling the baby there etc. I had a wax done, we had a nice bath together etc - and it was not quite what we had planned! Recently I found my bump has grown from being rather small to suddenly huge and I am now at 29 weeks thinking - Its only going to get bigger - and then my bits will be ripped to sheds, and my boobs will be like spaniels ears - and ergh!

fuckwittery I think it must have been that - they went after about 30 mins to 45 mins. Whoever say braxton hicks are not painful needs their head examined- not painful my foot.

I think it will be 'hands only' from now on in, and rather less frequent....

Just wait until you're due and trying to get things moving - guarantee you'll give it a go!! (Along with all the other nonsense that's suggested and probably does nothing!!!)

You think it's challenging now?! ;)

It is a mite uncomfortable to be honest - and the BH can last for hours... I just keep panicking that if DTD is that uncomfortable then childbirth is gonna be horrific!!!!

The BH are also making me think I am going to be a "straight to epidural" kinda girl :-/

I wish we did more in the 3rd trimester, after the birth it's the last thing you feel like, and 2+ months of semi-celibacy sucks!

IME, after the second trimester the ligament pains put any of the more (ahem) "lady-led" positions out of the running, and by about half way through the third trimester then only (ahem ahem oh dear lord I hope that no one on MN outs me at the next mothers' group) on all fours was manageable in terms of physics and discomfort Smile

If I can convince DP to man up and DTD, I'll let you know!

His reluctance throughout the entire pregnancy has made it all very lady-led, and frankly I'm too knackered now to pursue this. It's not fair!

Our more-pregnant than us friends revealed the other day that 'they'd already had sex twice' that day. I nearly cried with the frustration. DP just looked a bit stunned...

I'm in my third trimester now, tried sex with DP (who is always up for it, but my sex drive has been on/off throughout pregnancy).
Five mins in, I had to stop due to getting pains almost straight away! :( Don't think i'll be bothering with sex until after baby is born!

Sunny we discussed it and figured this would be the best position - lol! We have got one of those 3D TV things (His idea/toy- we have used the 3D function about 3 times...) but someone told me ages ago when they heard we had one that you can get 3D porn DVD's. I might buy him one of those, hand him the glasses and send him off while I sit and eat biscuits and watch midsomer murders in bed Grin

Teaandflapjacks - is brilliant idea, sounds so much cosier. For a moment thought you were going to combine the on all fours with both being able to watch the 3D TV, which sounds like far too much multitasking and hard work Wink
