Anyone else having big babies?

So, just had my 28 week appointment, bump measuring at 31cm, and feels like a big baby just by having a feel. (We have seen on scans that baby is measuring above the top line of growth charts) midwife said she will see me again in 3 weeks then refer to consultant, but looks likely that they will induce me slightly early.
Just wondering if I'm sharing a boat with anyone? Xx

Im not over the line Im on the top boundry so they are keeping an eye, but am terriefied for having a big baby.. i was hoping for a healthy 6lb-er and to sneeze and it would slip out. Im waiting until the next appointment to see which way they want to go, its a bit nerve racking, and I keep telling baby to slow down with the growing but I dont think he is listening :(

At 28wks I was 28cms than at 31wks had grown to 35cms. Midwife not remotely concerned and sent me on my way. I went for a private scan as I went into panic mode and confirmed we're having a big un!!! I'm 34 weeks now and have put 2 stone on, so not horrendous amounts of weight gain. the private scan cost £100 which we could have done without spending, but felt much more relieved once I knew that the baby was ok. Although now worrying that jumbo baby plus horrendous pgp is going to make for an interesting birth Confused

Me but I've had 2 10lbers b4 so not overly concerned this time .... Tape measures are not overly accurate anyway so don't worry to much xx

Apparently I am! Mid-wife hasn't measured stomach yet but from a feel says that she would say I was 3 weeks ahead. Dates are accurate as its ivf. Scan at 20 weeks was 95% for three measurements and off the scale for two. The sonographer just said 'wow' at the abdomen. I am five four normal weight and my partner is five seven normal weight so we are ???? The consultant was totally not concerned. I'm 27 weeks tomorrow but everyone at work thinks I'm either about to leave for maternity next week or give birth in at my desk!

I too am measuring big. At 31 weeks I was measuring 36 weeks fundal height and sent for a scan/consultant appointment. Scans showing head and stomach above 97th Centile. DS1 born on 2nd Centile so to say I'm terrified is the understatement of the century. Hoping they wont let me hit 40 weeks if it keeps on getting bigger and bigger. Might just cry until they let me have a c-section...

Yep I'm 32 weeks measuring 36. Ds was a 9lber and I measured small with him Shock. I'm off the chart.

Midwife wants to scan me, consultant said no. I'm waiting to see consultant in 2 weeks when I will ask to be scanned even though 'he doesn't do scans' as I'm driving myself insane.

No idea what will happen to me of baby! Have bad spd and had 2nd and 3rd degree tear with ds. I'm scared!

Well now you come to mention it I have been thinking about this today...
was measuring 36 at 31 weeks but midwife didn't seem too concerned 9but then again, midwife is never really ever concerned)... and people are always really really surprised when I tell them that I've still got 7 weeks left! My bump is absolutely massive.. and have had three separate people today ask with horrified looks on their faces when I'm going to drop 'any day now dear?'.

Maybe we will all be in the 10lbers club!

I have just under 10lbers and my cervix doesn't let them out so booked in for ELCS. I think I could have birthed vaginally if I had known baby was so big but epidural and flat on my back was not ideal for a natural birth and DS was brow presenting- if midwives are aware they should help with positioning etc. I think baby's are getting bigger generally or maybe that's just my perception?

Scans can be inaccurate too anyway by up to a lb or so.

DS was predicted to be big.

9-10lb they said.

11lb 7oz Grin

Far less damage than his 8lb 2oz sister caused, it's not all bad!

My baby was predicted to be 9lb at least, just by feel not a scan...she was 7lb! It's not an accurate science, try not to worry.

Mine were 8lb 7oz, 9lb 3oz, 9lb 5oz, 10lb 13oz and then my dinky one was 8lb.

My big baby ds4 10lb 13oz had a head circumference at birth off the top of the chart. His was the easiest birth, under an hour in the birthing pool. My boys were all predicted to be small...

And then they said dd my fifth would be big... So scans not accurate and my bump measured small in all five pregnancies.

Well it wouldn't surprise me, my ds was 9lb, my dd was 10lb 9oz (2 weeks early). Have just discovered that im pregnant and due at xmas, my dh is wondering if this one will weigh more than the turkey:) my sister has already informed me that she is putting down 11lb+ on the sweepstake!!! cowbag

My first was measuring 7lbs something at birth through the scan.. She was infact 9lbs 14oz, pushed her out fine.
My other two were 8lbs.
Fourth and last, due in three weeks time, is measuring above average. Big surprise., guessed at 8-9lbs.
Consultant said she'd induce me 'a couple of weeks early'... Yahoo?
But Midwife said no, she'd only induce me a few days before due date.
FFS! I just wish everyone would be on the same bloody page!
I've got my last midwife appointment tomorrow, 37 weeks, so we'll see what she says then!
It's a guessing game basically. Don't get yourselves stressed out by it too much.

My bump isn't massive this time, it's big, but not like the others. Consultant said I've not got loads of amniotic fluid this time. (I've got enough though, nothing to worry about.)

I get alot of horrified looks too when I say I've 12 weeks left and not the 2 weeks everyone expects when being hit by my bump before I'm even in the building......
My 1st was 6lb 2oz, 2nd was 9lb 3oz, and I was induced at 39 weeks with her, I had a nice consultant though who liked to ease discomfort by getting big babies out a little earlier and quickly.....I do hope I get her this time too!!

I'm 4 ft 9.5 and have only put on 10lb, mainly due to cholestasis, I think. Had my last scan yesterday at 36 + 2 days and baby is estimated to be 8lb 6 already!! Luckily I have a C-section planned next Tuesday, and i'm expecting him to be about 9lb. Would be interesting to see how big he got if I went the full 40 weeks though!

Steffanoid · 30/04/2013 22:28

im measuring big, had an extra scan at the hospital yesterday and they're estimating him at 7lb5 currently, im 34 weeks today, so looking at quite a big one, midwife doesn't seem to care, seeing consultant in 2 weeks for another growth scan, they may decide differently...
