Hi,

In which week would you recommend we buy the pram/car seat/cot etc?

We've chosen the items, just need to order them online now.

Thanks! :)

I made sure I had mine delivered by week 34. Just in case. My mother threw a fit over bad luck having them in the house but seriously, you need them ready, and we live 2 hours away from family! Also means you can practice using them, setting up and folding away etc. The crib we put together at 38 weeks and moved our furniture to get it in all ready. If you have space I would get on and order it. Good luck! X

I ordered mine at the weekend and I'm 19 weeks today, was gonna wait until after scan next week but it was sunny and we were going to the park next to the shop!

The shop wanted to order them in for July but I said I'd rather have them when they come in a few weeks so I have them as I may end up being early depending what happens with my blood pressure and growth as have had problems last 2 pregnancies.

I brought my Pram and Carseat last week, I'm ordering the cot tomorrow and I'll be 31+6 I don't want to have to worry about them later as my Midwife has said I may end up being induced due to size so the more relaxing I can do before he arrives the better Smile

I'm 24 weeks and am going shopping on Friday!
I realise its a bit early but the pram and car seat are the main high value items we're buying and I'd rather know that its been sorted out.
I've also been pretty much in denial about preparing/buying/getting too excited until after the 20 week scan and the last 5 weeks have been quite fun starting to think about our little one and getting prepared for that...

Fil is making us wait till end of may begining of june to get the pram/car seat and since he has kindly offered to fund them i cant really argue, i will be 32-33weeks then.

Already have moses basket from.previous ds and wont be worrying about cot/cot bed till after dc2 is born.

I bought the pram at 20 weeks but am not having delivered until 36 weeks.

I bought the car seat last week at 32 weeks.

I'm intending on buying the cot at either 36 or 37 weeks (can't remeber which weekend I've alloted for Ikea).

Bought a sling, breast pads, maternity pads and lansinoh today at 34 weeks.

I've been buying clothes and blankets from around 12 weeks, couldn't help myself Smile

I think any time after the 20 week scan for bigger, more expensive things is fine. I have absolutely no superstition about not having things in the house before the baby comes, what a lot of crap! Much better to be and feel prepared.

I only plan to get the carseat before baby is born as you need that to come out of hospital.

Cot (although we are getting from our neighbours) won't need until after baby born as will be in Moses basket first.

Pram, might well decide which one to get before the birth but won't get it until after we get home. Baby will be to small for pram at very start anyway and wherever we go in first few days and weeks will be in car anyway I assume, or on foot and then will carry newborn in sling.

Whenever you like. We bought stuff as soon as we could afford it.

Have just bought pram, crib and carseat.
I am in week 32. Didn't want to leave it any longer as baby might come early.
Also gives us a chance to get to grips with all this new equipment ( first baby ).
Keep receipts. If you buy from places like kiddiecare they start your guarantee from day baby is due rather than when you bought it.. Which could be useful.
Have fun!

We bought things over a period of time so it wasn't a huge amount of money in one go. We bought car seats at about 24 weeks, cots at 20 weeks (assembled them at 28 weeks), ordered the pram at 26 weeks and had it delivered at 32 weeks. I gave birth at 34 weeks.

We're buying our pram this weekend (34w).
The cot was bought a few weeks ago but we haven't got a mattress yet, mainly because I can't choose one!
I also want to buy a crib for downstairs, but I'm waiting for a bargain.
Car seat - we don't have a car, but I know we will be taking her out with family etc, so just waiting until the one we like is on offer.
If you have room for things, and aren't superstisious (sp?!) I don't see the problem with buying things early. If anything it is handy to spread the cost!

I'm 23 weeks and ordered pram at around 16 weeks. iCandy so was advised to order early. Will collect around 34-36 weeks.
Cot arrived last week as bought on special promotion and once I decided I wanted that one I didn't want it getting discontinued. Currently in boxes in garage. DH going to build in next 4-6 weeks once room painted.
Still need to order crib but that will be delivered within a week so will probably wait till I'm 30-32 weeks.
Car seat bought same time as pram, will collect with pram

I don't believe in superstition but I've got my stuff as was more convenient. I spread the cost and was less stressful I'd imagine than leaving it til the final weeks.
I'm now 31 weeks and have most things ready.
If you have the space and you want to buy now then go for it. There's no right or wrong.
However my super organised friend went out and bought everything in the first few weeks of finding out she was pregnant the had her 12 weeks scan to find she was having twins so I would definitely wait til after first scan!

Thank you everyone :)

Just got the cot, and will start buying other smaller things now. Don't want to leave it all to the last minute.

I had horrid morning sickness so spent many an evening browsing online for baby stuff. Once I'd had the 20 week scan I kept an eye out for bargains - got our pram £150 cheaper in a sale, when I was about 22 weeks pregnant. Stupidly left the crib til the end, it was delivered the day before dd arrived, and built when we were discharged from hospital.

I quite liked having everything ready so I could look forward to being thoroughly lazy once my ML started didn't get the chance as dd was 5 weeks early

Going to start looking this weekend when I'll be 30 weeks. Figure that even allowing for an early arrival I won't need them for at least another 6 weeks.
Haven't bought a thing yet as pregnancy has rendered me insufferably superstitious.

I dithered so much over the pram it was delivered on my due date. Its just a car seat and moses basket or similar that you actually need and everything else you can in theory order from hospital and get it the next day!

I'm 21 weeks but we've already bought the co-sleeper, I want it to have plenty of time to offgas before we put a sprog in it. Going to build it soon.

Not buying a pram, but am really hoping that the car seat we want will go on sale between now and May, don't want to pay £300 if we don't have to! So waiting on that. Bought mostly everything else, all cloth nappies, most clothes and accessories, and the sling we were given for Christmas.
