hi all,

i need your help or re-assurance pls. Am new on the site so forgive me if i dont use the full acronyms...or give TMI. I am so happy i found this forum, so inspiring and warm where one can exchange ideas and information! TIA.

I had a strange CD last month. It came as a light flow on the first day then was gone. After that came only spots of alternating pink/red/brown. I thot it was a late one, was at the clinic last wednesday and doc saw a heartbeat on the scan. She reassured me that it meant good news and it was already 6wks gone. I was overjoyed.

However, on sat und sun brought a different wave with more blood, 2 big Clots, terrible & gripping cramps like period pains!! I couldnt wait for the next appointment which should have being in 2weeks. On Mon, i.e 2 days ago, i was the first patient at their doors ...again (ha ha!). We did another scan and doc says baby has grown a wee bit and we still saw her heartbeat. Since then i have continued to have more clots and red bleeding, but with little or no pains now. I have resigned myself to God and hope for the best but cant help feeling anxious and info- seeking... just in case i can learn something from other mums like you. I believe am in the 7th Wk now.

Forgot to add that i have had 2 healthy preggys resulting in 2DSs. My Ist DS is 5yrs & My 2nd DS is almost 4yrs. I was diagnosed with High blood pressure 2yrs ago. We have been TTC for over 2.5yrs now and since stopped the pill since then.

My DH has been an angel all thru, encouraging and being so optimistic.

The doctor couldn't explaIn the source of bleeding or the risks to the baby now either, says it may be genetic but can go either way. However, advised not to worry much especially since i have had 2 sucessful and problem-free pregnancy and births (were both CS though) in the past.

Has anyone else been through this and has baby been ok???

Not had heavy bleeding but are you taking medication for high blood pressure? As soon as I got pregnant my gp changed my medication and put me on aspirin, they got me straight in at consultant so maybe worth you pushing to get seen to see if anything can help?

No experience but there are tons of mums of here who have had the exact same and everything has been ok, but likewise ones that havent.

Im sure someone will be along to talk soon. Hope it all goes ok. Its good that there is no more pain. The period type cramps are normal in early pregnancy, but severe cramps with bleeding could mean something bad. Its great that the scans have shown a heartbeat both times though.

I had bleeding at 6, 8, 11, and 22 weeks. Causes given were subchorionic haematoma, polyp, cervica erosion and unexplained. Anyway, my son was completely fine.

Bleeding is really tough because as symptoms go it can mean either nothing, or game over - I really feel for you. It doesn't mean this pregnancy won't go swimmingly, though xx

Thank you both for your prompt response, so reassuring! @ Twinklestarstwinklestars- thks, have been taking medication for about 2 years now and have since changed the medication about 6 months ago (good you asked, almost forgot until i read the medication leaflet and noted that i needed to discuss with my Doc. if TTC which i did immediately). The current Med. is ok but isnt Aspirin....its called Presinol.

@ lucybrad-thks for the good wishes, was over the moon especially by the 2nd scan to see the heartbeat in order! I didnt know that one could get those kind of period cramps sometimes in early preggy...never had or heard...thks, now am somewhat reasured.

I am hoping i will continue to get useful inputs to keep me sane until my next scan next week thurs. I will definitely update as soon as i get back anyways! Trying not to think about it constantly, at the same time not exhaust myself being too busy doing whats not....pray i stay calm and sane at the end of it all... :-)

I also had bleeding at 6 weeks, 8 weeks and 9 weeks, although never massively heavy. I understand that seeing a heartbeat on the scan makes it much more likely things will be fine, but really it's just a waiting game at this point. There seem to be lots of possible reasons and it could mean anything or nothing, hopefully for you it means nothing and all will continue normally. If it helps I had my 20 weeks scan yesterday and baby is fine in there despite the bleeding early on.

@ Crazyhead- thks, only just saw your post, thks, really needed that... if you dont mind, i'd like to know if you had continious flow at any period, really heavy flow? I have been bleeding heavy and steadily since Tuesday last week. What do all those terminology mean in layman terms.....? TIA.

@ Persuasion- thks for your response. Yes, i know, its exactly this waiting game that is doing my head in...I pray like you said, 'all these means nothing and all continues normally'. My only thread of hope is the encouragement from my Doc. and the several medical authorities that say almost 94% of bleeding with heartbeat make it to full-term. Yeah, it does help to hear about your experience, great for you about the scan......all the best for the rest of the journey.....i hope i have positive news sooon too...

I didn't have really heavy flow - but it did take a while to stop. It started red then got browner (eg I must have had a bleed that took a while to 'out') I have known of women who've had really heavy bleeds though and had a viable pregnancy.

I had a number of scans scheduled due to it, but didn't always wait for these - basically when I started to bleed again I called the unit and just went straight back in for a check. The wait is hellish
