4 - 5 weeks pregnant - worried re miscarriage - light brown smearing tissue when wiping

Any advice is greatly appreicated, I am out of my mind with worry.
We have been TTC for 10 months. I have been charting BBT for 5 months. My luteal phase is always 11dpo. I normally experience a temp drop towrads cover line at 9, 10, 11 dpo and have first full bleed 12dpo (so thats my day 1).

This month today I am 15dpo and no AF at all, temps have stayed above cover line. I tested yesterday morning (so 14dpo) and got a positive. I tested last night and got a positive too.
Yesterday around midday when wiping after going to the toilet I had very light pink blood on the tissue on first wiping. Nothing after that. I went to GP, but couldnt see me normal doc and he told me it could be an ectopic pregnancy and had booked me in for blood test on Monday! I couldnt believe this and wasnt convinced as have no pain other than mild cramping, like when AF is coming. So I called the local early pregnancy unit and spoke to a midwife. She said she was surprised the GP had said this and that unless I start heavy bleeding or gettting real pain to not worry.

In the evening last night after going to the toilet and wiping tissue was really pale brown. I have the same this morning. Nothing at all in my knickers. My temp was going up and yesterday morning was at its highest its ever been 36.7c. HOwever this morning it was 36.6c, so going down. My cover is 36.2c, so I am a way from there. Plus I woke up this morning 2 hours early and couldnt get back to sleep. I went to the toilet and laid in bed till usual time of taking my BBT.

Help, we are meant to be going on holiday on Monday and I just want to know whether I am miscarry or if it all sounds fairly normal? Does your BBT fluctuate above the cover line once you are pregnant or is the drop today showing something isn't right? Will a one of blood test Monday morning tell me for sure if I am pregnant or likely to miscarry?

Any advice welcome??

Sorry you are having this worry. I don't know anything about BBT, but I had several episodes of spotting earlier this pg and all was fine - the EPAU said it was possibly implantation, and that brown blood is old blood so not really too much to worry about. It it gets redder, and you get pains and cramps then its more concerning. It's prob too early to see much on a scan at this stage but keep in touch with your EPAU. Bloods might be taken 24 hrs apart to see if the levels of HCG are doubling.
I hope everything works out for you xx

I don't know what you meant thrall the abbreviations dpo, ebau etc but I can say that I had a brown pink discharge when I was 4-5 weeks but just didn't know I was pregnant. Am sure it is fine as have read a lot of people get it.

thank you Bejeena - dpo, is days past ovulation and EPAU is early pregnancy unit. Thats exactly where I am 4-5 weeks pregnant. Really hoping is just normal then. Thanks for posting, the more I see that people say it can be normal the better I am feeling :) xxx

I think it's totally normal. I had One instance of it early on in my first pg (before I knew I was pregnant)
Totally bizarre for the GP to immediately start talking about ectopic

I had this too, on and off between 4 and 8 weeks. 15 weeks today and all is coming along nicely. Good luck and congrats!

Hi
I don't have a lot to add except to say I've had the same sort of spotting. Blood tests show my beta-HCG levels are going up and doubling as they should be, so there is nothing to do except wait. I have a private viability scan booked for when I'm 6+2 on Friday, and I'm keeping my fingers crossed until then.

Also, I don't know about all the abbreviations you're using either, but I was boiling hot in early pregnancy too. All sounds pretty normal to me!

I had this too, very early on. Sent to the EPU but they couldn't find a pregnancy with an internal scan (although many tests were positive). Told to come back in a week or so.... to find out I had twins!!

Congratulations!

Sorry, I was only referring to the brown discharge.

I had brown and pink discharge between 5 weeks and 8 also had breakthrough bleeding for the time my next two periods would have been. My BBT did drop slightly around that time also. Am week 18 now and all seems to be going alright!

Needless to say it all makes a girl a tad anxious and no matter how many people tell you to relax etc it is so hard. Good luck and hugest of congratulations to you!

I had the same at 5-6 weeks. Thought I was more like 8 weeks so had an early scan and all was ok. I had pink spotting for about 5 days then a couple of instances of brown discharge. Had scan which found I was 7 weeks and saw a heartbeat.it was likely it wa implantation bleeding, I've had nothing since and all seems to be ok. Try not to worry. Good luck!

Thank you everyone, I am finding it hard not to worry, but so many people seem to say that they had this and all was fine. Keep debating just going to A and E and saying I feel worse to get a scan and an answer to put my mind at rest. But reading everything on here, think it is sensible to wait till blood test on Monday and hopefully results back by lunchtime then I can go on holiday and relax! Thank you all xxx

Hey Stoney, sorry you are going through all this worry. This probably isn't what you want to hear but A & E won't be able to tell anything from a scan either I don't think - a heartbeat wouldn't be visible til at least 6 weeks so it'd be too early to see anything for definite. As others have said, many many many people have spotting in early pg and its all fine. There are some reassuring bits about spotting in What to expect that are worth reading. As others have said its when you get cramping accompanied by bright red blood that you ought to be worried.

Another one who had this and all was fine

Got it at 6 weeks and had a scan where heartbeat was found. Had the same thing at 20 weeks with braxton hicks, but again all was well

Unfortunately someone over-zealous decided this was a reason to ban me from the lovely MLU unit for giving birth not that it really mattered seeing as I arrived at hospital screaming for drugs
