What would you like a present for you when your DC is born?

My friend is 37+2 and while I'd like to get a present for her DS when he's born too, I'd really like to get her a little something just for her. I remember after having DD, I felt sometimes like just an extension of DD and people only talked to me about babies/nappies/sleep, and I really missed myself IYSWIM.
I don't want to do the usual wine/cheese thing as she's already got that covered, but I'm at a bit of a loss.
What would you like to receive for you?

Maybe a voucher for a spa day? That the two of you might be able to share once baby is a bit older? Might be nice to feel looked after/pampered a bit.

That was a suggestion by my lovely DH, am a bit amazed!!

My best friends just had a little girl and we got pressies for the baby as well as a mini bucks fizz and chops for her and hubby for whenever, and a spa day voucher for the two of us to go to some point over the next few months for some girlie time!

Really nice pampering stuff is good especially posh hand cream- I remember having really dry hands with the constant nappy changing and hand washing!

Well its not fancy but I bought my friends take away curry for 2, a magazine, some Berrocca and cake. Night In Kit!

I cooked my SIL a selection of single portion meals that she could just reheat for her lunches. Things such as stew, curry, soups. This meant she could enjoy some proper food without having to make the effort, during the first few weeks after birth. Boring I know but she really liked it. My MIL did this for me with my first and I loved it.

Chocolate - really nice like Hotel Chocolat or something! I say that because at 26 weeks I've still got vestiges of heartburn and morning sickness and haven't been able to enjoy food this pregnancy at all (and at this stage obv not likely to). x

If you know what cosmetics she uses, perhaps a couple of bits to top up her kit. I have barely spent a penny on myself since June and I'm scraping the bottom of everything in my makeup bag.

Could you arrange a home visit by a hairdresser? Doesn't need to be a cut or colour, just a wash and real blow dry could be luxurious.

I like the idea of single serving meals, but unfortunately I wouldn't inflict my cooking on anyone that wasn't a relation
Maybe the take away vouchers and nice creams/bath bits could be combined for a night in kit... Hmm.

A friend brought me a Molton Brown hand wash and hand cream set just before Ds was born. I thought it was lovely, but then really, really appreciated it once I understood just how many times a day I was going to be washing my hands!!!

Another friend got me a lovely bunch of my favourite flowers, so nice to have something for me.

A friend gave me a really nice bath soak and I soooooo appreciated it! (It was like milk, was even in bottle shaped like a milkbottle - not sure if that was a joke!)

I got lots of thoughtful gifts for me as well as the baby from female friends.

Mostly Clarins bath/body stuff, for that elusive day when I could soak in the bath for more than 10 minutes.

Also a voucher for a facial and books.

My DH arranged for a masseur to come to the house and give me a treatment when DD was a few weeks old which was lovely as I didn't need to go anywhere for it. He looked after DD while I was pummeled and had a early night!

My dh bought me a session with a (famous) hairdresser in London, who took one look at my Sideshow Bob post partum barnet and lopped most of it off. So much so, that my dh walked straight past me when he came to collect me.

A magazine subscription as popping out.for the magazine every week will be very low on her list.

Or....make up a little hamper: hand cream, choclate, bubble bath, a book, and a box.of.condoms

lovely bath stuff. my aunt sent me lavender oil to add to my baths after the birth of DD 3mo ago (just one of those teeny bottles of the concentrated stuff, nothing fancy) and it was the best thing I got by far, it just had an unbelievably soothing effect on my battered and bruised body. that and Crabtree and Evelyn handcream from (another!) aunt. other things I think would be great are facial skin stuff - Clarins oils are gorgeous and nourishing and suit all skin types, a hydrating mask, a voucher for a massage.

also you could make her a voucher for a few hours of babysitting when she and her DP are ready to go out together!

I did a "night in pamper pack" with things like moisturisers, bublle bath, candle etc. Went down quite well. X

I bought some groceries and did some cooking that I dropped off on a couple of Fridays. I think that went down well - anything that can be easily reheated is a bonus when you're knackered. Box sets are also good. Smelly things are nice. Anything that caters for long sleepless days...

The chops typo made me think 'steak' - I have really missed rare steak so would love it if someone bought us a nice piece of steak for a dinner which things like pre-prepped salad & potatoes that can just be bunged in the oven!

Smellies also nice, or do some shopping if you don't want to cook.

Voucher for a couple of hours babysitting also sounds like a great idea!

To add to those above, I got a friend a nice box of Soap and Glory stuff shortly after the birth of her second, along with a box of chocolates that she may or may not have chosen to share with hubby!

It wasn't much, but she really appreciated it as almost everything they'd received was for baby and big sister.

Yy to a box set. I was also given meals after ds was born and I luffed the people who did that. :)
