Only two days overdue (with first) but finding it hard to keep my sanity. Had twinges on and off but nothing significant. Who else is overdue and how are you keeping occupied?

I'm 39+5 so technically not overdue. But this is my 2nd and I had my 1st baby at 37+5 so I've been feeling overdue for a couple of weeks now!

Everyone, including myself and my midwife, thought I would have this baby early too so I've been getting the daily texts from everyone asking if any signs yet for a while!
I have had no signs at all of anything happening anytime soon. No braxton hicks, no show, no cramps or back ache ANYTHING!! I really don't like this feeling of wondering if today is going to be the day. Starting to go a bit mad!

Hope its soon for your BabyBellasMumma. I'm having loads of BH and some cramping on and off but for the last week or so I've been waiting for it to turn into something. Hard to think about anything else!

Ok so (congratulations too, how exciting!)
Crucial last bits of building going on with bubs
The twinges are all good, bits of practicing going on there..
You still have time for the last bits of getting ready/peace and quiet
You can AVOID all those blathering idiots who say irritating shit like 'aren't you big' and don't you think you should have had it by now'? Grrrrr stay indoors and rub everything you can reach with cocoa butter

Smile Thanks

Thanks orange. Hopefully your cramps will turn into something very soon! Have you tried anything to bring on labour? I've tried a few of the old wives tales, like pineapple and very spicy food, but honestly don't think anything works. Like everyone keeps telling me, baby will come when it's ready!
I have my 3yo dd to keep me occupied all day which is quite a good distraction. Honestly think I would be constantly clock watching and counting down the hours otherwise!
Have you been offered a sweep or anything? X

Still waiting, am 40+4 today. Tried curry, pineapple, walking, raspberry leaf tea to no avail. Still feeling loads of BH, some cramps and twinges but nothing more. Lots of pressure in hips and pelvis is making me pretty uncomfortable now. Waiting is harder than I thought it would be!

I know it's annoying when people say it but I honestly believe babies come when they are ready. Trying to wait patiently is hard though isn't it!? Fingers crossed it won't be too much longer for you.
I actually had quite a few braxton hicks last night and hoped it was going to start things off but no! It was after I had been at a noisy surprise party for a couple of hours and baby was moving around LOADS for an hour or so after we got home Smile

40 + 1, so not complaining yet, although the last two weeks have passed very slowly! Period pains have been ramping up, but nothing else to report. My midwife was saying that pineapple only works when taken earlier than this, so not going to bother there. Can't walk all that much, because my pelvis is quite painful, so just hoping nature takes its course!

Sounds like it's time to book cinema tickets for tomorrow or day after - could be a night out to take your mind off things or you'll be in labour & you won;t care that you bought the tickets .....

hello, I'm 9 days overdue, and fed-up. my two boys went back to school today, should have had the baby a week already by now! Induction booked for this thursdsay if nothing gets going naturally. Midwife appt on Tuesday, so if baby's head finally engaged (wsn't last week) then she will offer me a sweep. Think may have lost mucous plug (yak) today, but nothing further as yet. Feel sort of pinned to house, as don't want to go too far incase go into labour! DH back at work. Not sure why baby late - my other two were roughly on time. getting a bit paranoid that something might be wrong, and wish baby would come along now!

Report
orangeshortbread · 07/01/2013 20:10

Hope the sweep works KMR. I have midwife appt on Friday (40 + 9) and hoping she will offer a sweep then. I know what you mean about being pinned to the house - I'm reluctant to go out with DH chaperoning me now.

well, baby was4/5 engage d apparently, and I was 3cm dilated on Tuesday, midwife gave me a sweep (which wasn't too bad at all, no worse than a smear). Got home, started having mild contractions - but nothing more. Went to bed, slept through, and nothing today, except lost more plug (gross) and a few gentle contractions. Midwife was certain I wouldn't need to be induced! This is rubbish really! So, I guess that I'm looking at induction tomorrow, rather than baby today. I was so excited when thought baby was finally coming!Went for a wee walk this morning, just about 15 mins, and got quite a bit of downward pressure, but no contractions. Sigh. Good luck to all you other overdue mummys!

Enjoy it!
Make the most of the peace and the tidiness and the fact you can just 'nip' out if you want.

Will be a very different story soon! Good luck!

Good luck KMR! Lets hope baby makes an appearance tonight! If not then at least you know baby should be here tomorrow or the next day Smile how exciting!! Please keep us updated I will be thinking of you
I'm now 40+3 and still no real signs at all. Midwife will do a sweep on Monday if nothing by then. It seems so far away though, can't imagine still being pregnant then, I want my baby now! X

Oh I really hope baby comes today KMR. I lost my mucus plug yesterday and my waters have been leaking I think - had a trickle yesterday and then woke up twice to soaked undies in the night but not seems to have stopped. Still waiting for contractions although I have been having more period-type cramps, not regular or too strong though.
I was never prepared for how infuriated this last stage might be. Im 40+7 today, seeing mw for sweep on Friday but I think I'll call labour ward later for reassurance about my waters.

ooo orangeshortbread- sounds like you are 'on the way'! Bellasmum - hope things get moving for you soon. I guess we'll all have our wee babies before weknow it! DS1 and DS2 keep asking me if the baby is coming today (for about 2 weeks they've been asking!), so tomorrow I guess I can say yes! Fingers crossed for all of us.

Still no signs of anything here.....

Report
orangeshortbread · 11/01/2013 09:37

KMR were you induced in the end? I went in for a check up yesterday and they couldn't decide whether it was my waters or not as the leaking seems to have stopped so they have no way of testing. THey said it was like to be heavy discharge associated with show or loss of plug that happened a couple of days before. So...I'm still waiting. Seeing midwife later and hopefully she will offer a sweep.

How are you today orange? Did midwife offer you a sweep? I'm booked in for a sweep on Friday and dreading it for some reason!

40+2 now. Also bored and want baby to come out so I can get on with life part 2: I feel like I'm in limbo right now.
I've had NO twinges or ANYTHING!
Had a sweep yesterday, another tomorrow, another on Monday...

hello! Baby arrived on Jan 10th (just, it was 1min past midnight), and came home yesterday lunchtime. Baby William was 7lb 5oz, and is doing well. All managed (ha ha) with just gas and air, and a bloody good midwife. If it helps, what seems to have got things going was a dominos pizza and watching that Star Gazing programme ;-)
Good luck to all you other overdue ladies - it will all be worth it in the end xx

Congratulations KMR! ThanksHow lovely!

Hi octane, I know what you mean about being in limbo! I'm 40+5, booked to have a sweep on Monday and I also have had no signs at all. I'm really nervous about the sweep (not sure why as its my 2nd baby but never had to have one with my 1st) really hoping labour starts this weekend so I don't have to have it!
