Feeling baby move in second pregnancy

I am about 17 weeks pregnant and felt the baby move quite early on in this pregnancy. However, I don't appear to feel it as often as in my first. I cannot remember when I started feeling it everyday last time- I am certainly not feeling it every day this time just yet.

Am I worrying for nothing?
Is it because I am chasing after a toddler and don't think about it that much?

I remember worring about baby moving, only had one baby before though and only 10 weeks now into my second pregnancy.

But I remember if I had a really busy day I would not feel baby move and would get worried. Used to sit down on the sofa with a really cold drink, this used to get him moving and put my mind at rest.

Oh yes you are sooo right, it IS because you are chasing after a toddler because i used to say to my midwife i never feel the baby in the day, she always starts at night when i am just about to go to sleep, midwife said it was because i was chasing a toddler around. Dd is 13 weeks now.

Like you, I felt second baby move much earlier but also found I wasn't feeling him quite so often, and not every day till several weeks after I first felt him. I suppose it was because I was a SAHM by that stage, rushing around after ds1 rather than sitting at a desk noticing every movement. Also, I didn't feel ds1 till about 20 weeks by which time the movements were getting very noticeable very quickly. At 17 weeks second time I definitely wasn't feeling movement every day.

In fact, ds2 has turned out to be much less of a live wire than ds1 so I think he was also moving less because he is just a less active person.

Agree with mower, if you're worried try to sit or lie down for a bit and often they will start to move. And consult your m/w if you're really worried!

Thank you all, reassuring to know that others have had similar experiences. Other than the lack of movement, I am not worried- I just feel having done this once before I should be a pro by now! Have felt it move twice since I posted. Smile so sitting down and concentrating seems to have done the trick. Remind me of this post when it's kicking so hard I can't get to sleep won't you! Wink
