What were peoples reactions when you said you were pg with no 4?

Most people said I should get a new TV or 'don't you know whats causing that yet?'. The rudest one though (I felt) was 'haven't you got your husband fixed yet?'.

There was another thread on here a while back about good replies.
One women said 'I know we could watch more TV, but don't you think sex is more enjoyable though?' I particularly liked that come back for the get a new TV comment.

I am now expecting number 5 and held off telling people as long as possible because I didn't like the comments about my previous pregnancy.

I have found even some of the health care professionals have been quite rude.

That's what Im afraid of i hid my third pregnancy to avoid horrid rude comments till i was 5months but we are considering dc4 and i had some rude comments of health professionals on dc3 and when your pg and really pleased about it the comments are very upsetting.

To be honest it did really upset me to start with (prob due to hormones like you said), but once they got it out their system they stopped commenting.

I don't think people mean to be rude, more they think they are making a witty comment.

If people catch me in the wrong mood and comment, I simply point out that luckily for me, my husband has a well paid job and we can afford them.

Health care professionals annoy me most though because I do feel they should know better and it is not professional to comment on someones life style choices.

I'm pregnant with no.4 and when a friend asked "Bloody hell! Do you not own a TV", I just said "Yes, why? What do you do in the Ad breaks?".

I've had an abundance of "Are you crazy/you must be mad/brave" etc. It's annoying, for sure, but I just nod and say "Your probably right" and shrug it off but like NAR4 says, people soon get over it and stop commenting.

Health care professionals are by far the rudest, I agree, although I did get a big lecture from another mum at a kids party this weekend about how irresponsible it was that anybody had more than two children Hmm. I don't quite know what she expected me to say "Oh yes, your absolutely correct, how terrible of me. Do excuse me, I need to go and book a late termination and decide which of my other children to give away/kill/sell on ebay".

My husband tells people who say more than two children is irresponsible 'someone has to build houses, run power stations, empty bins, become doctors etc. have you not heard about the problems in China now, due to their previous one child policy?' He also likes to add for good measure that our children will be in good jobs, paying the taxes that will pay their pension because our government spent the money they paid in.

Personally I can rarely be bothered to comment.

It does make me cross when the problems I have had during this pregnancy (all relatively minor) are blamed on the fact it is my 5th. My nan had 13 and didn't have any problems and other people can have terrible problems with their 1st. Doctors and midwifes are the worst for doing this.

One stupid woman commented last week (about the fact I may need a C section due to placenta previa) that I should of thought of that before getting pregnant AGAIN. Like it is something I could have possibly predicted. Stupid comment but really upset me. She had been eaves dropping on a conversation I was having with my friend at the time.

Hope it all goes well for you ladies and it will all be worth it in the end.

No one irl knows I'm pregnant yet apart from my dh and MW! I'm 11/12 weeks now and a bit worried about all the negative comments. I feel like a teenager! I'm not sure why I'm expecting negativity, we never ask anyone for help, and manage on just my dh Wage since I left work recently.
In sure we will get lots of 'no tv'?! comments but I'm expecting them, people soon change their tune when there is a beautiful newborn to visit!

ruby you don't have to have a MW you don't like. Phone the supervisor of MW and ask for an alternative. My alternative was to be consultant care only but that's unusual.

There's a thread on here for pregnant with 3,4,5+ come & join us.

I have 5 and the comments are relentless. A lot of people asked if 4 and 5 were 'mistakes'.. I mean wtf?????????? Health professionals are the worst I found too. I reported a HV to her Boss for all her negative comments about where all my children planned and how I would 'never cope with 5 without help'. People do feel very justified in making comments about large families. I really hate it. My Dh is actually very militant with people about it, I am more smile and mutter under my breath.

Congratulations to all of you though. Big families are wonderful.

I'm pg with no 4 now and I love it, some old woman told me I should be sterilised the other day Grin she didn't mean harm.......some people just don't know what to say because it is a lot compared to most and a lot of people couldn't think of anything worse so I guess their reactions are to how they feel about it! My sister has one & will never have any more, she told me I was fooking mental Smile she doesn't mean it horrid though! If someone is a little mean/rude I normally give them a big smile and say you want to thank your lucky stars your not our neighbour Grin
As for all my friends & family they are asking if I'll have a no 5 as they know me Wink
Good luck, be loud & proud Smile
