Am I, Am I Not?

Am I, Am I Not?

DH & I had a drunken night and I think had unprotected sex in mid-Feb. Since then I haven't had a period. Decided, after feeling quite tired, that I should do a pregnancy test and it's positive!
I haven't told dh yet. Our dd is 10 months old and we cannot afford to have another baby - just moved house, mortgage is massive and all our savings are tied up in the house.
I'm worried that I'm not sure whether I am or am not - guess the test is pretty accurate and I am. Feel guilty for feeling like this when so many struggle to conceive. I can't remember when my last period was so am not sure whether I am late or not but the test was positive - so surely I am?

Sorry for rambling -what do you think:

You know the answer to this really don't you? Hope it all works out for you and that once you get over the shock you start to feel happy at the prospect.

well, going by the positive preg test...the answers yes...i hope that everything works out for you and that, as yoyo said, it starts to become more of a positive thing for you as you get over the shock xox

I think it's pretty much certain don't you! Congratulations.......

Can you switch your huge mortgage to interest only for a while? This is what we will be doing, just while DS is young and I am not working very much.

Obviously it's not a long term solution because you'll only be paying off the interest but our mortgage advisor said that this is a well known thing for young families to do in these years of financial struggle - also he said that when you go back onto repayment style in a few years if you can afford it, go for a shorter term so that you still get your mortgage paid off in the same time you would have done.

Interest only might make life easier all round with two children?! Hope you start to feel happier about things soon, best of luck.

meant to say that as far as I am aware it's not re-mortgaging, you stay exactly where you are but just tell them you want to change your payments to an interest-only basis. So it should be trouble free if you fancy that way of doing things...

After doing another test (again 2 lines) I plucked up the courage and told dh! He was delighted and told me not to worry about the financial side - we would get by! Saving and scrimping starts now though.....
Got to phone the surgery to get my booking in appt and then make sure my doula's available....it's all becoming a bit real!
Thank you so much for your words of wisdom - they really did help when I was in the office trying to hold my tummy in & not yawn again!!

Congratulations! and i'm glad your dh has reassured you Smile.

There is a good time to have a child and i think when your blessed with such a precious gift just enjoy it.

I've just discovered i'm expecting no. 2 and i'm counting on this one not costing too much Wink since we have all equipment etc it shouldn't be such a big stretch financially this time round.
Come and ask me in November and i'll let you know if thats true! Smile
