DP has given me his 'Man Flu'! Have found his berocca stash which is wonderful wonderful stuff!! Have not taken it before when pg and there's nothing to indicate that I shouldn't - just wanted a second opinion for my own peace of mind!!

This is from one of the websites....

DESCRIPTION
It is a oral multivitamin tablet specially formulated for prophylactic or therapeutic nutritional supplementation in conditions requiring water-soluble vitamins.Tablets supply therapeutic levels of ascorbic acid, vitamins B1, B2, B6, niacin and pantothenic acid and a supplemental level of vitamin B12. Berocca tablets also supply a supplemental level of folic acid for pregnant or lactating women and a therapeutic level for adults and children four or more years of age.

INDICATIONS AND USAGE
It is indicated for supportive nutritional supplementation in conditions in which water-soluble vitamins are required prophylactically or therapeutically. These include: Conditions causing depletion, or reduced absorption or bioavailability of water-soluble vitamins - Gastrointestinal disorders, chronic alcoholism, febrile illnesses, prolonged or wasting diseases, hyperthyroidism or poorly-controlled diabetes. Conditions resulting in increased needs for water-soluble vitamins - Pregnancy, severe burns, recovery from surgery.

That means it's ok right?

Hmm. Dunno. I used to drink Red Bull whilst pregnant w/DD1 - first trimester - until I read the back of the can and it said pregnant women shouldn't have it.

Sounds fine.

Never took them when pg, but used to have the soluble fizzy ones when I was a busy London DINKY - not too sure re the benefits of the vitamins but it forced me to drink a pint of water every morning rather than coffee, which must have been good for me.

lol expat I was the same with dd - I swear she must have had red bull withdrawlal at some stage...oops!

The ones I've got are the soluble tablets too.... I'm trying to think what vitamins you aren't meant to have 'extra' of and it's A isn't it?

Well I don't know about 1000mg being harmful in pg. That was what I was prescribed in my vitamin therapy to ward off pre-eclampsia. I took that much every day from about 12 weeks.

Have just dug the tube out of the bin! It says 476mg per tablet...793% RDA. I thought vit C was fairly harmless - esp in relation to others like vit A.

I took one in a glass of water and it got me to the shops and back in a burst of energy!!

Feel like crap again now!!
