am on cd 23 of a 25 day cycle. Did dtd at right times this month-rare occurrence. Preg test negative this morning. Is that to be trusted or was that just too early? All replies welcome. Need your personal experiences please ladies. Thanks :)

All tests taken less than 2 weeks after ovulation are not necessarily to be trusted. Your cycle length does not tell you when you ovulated this month.
Personally, I have had positive results at least 2 days before my period every time I have been pregnant, using First Response tests.

Thanks kat. Congratulations Thanks. I used a superdrug one. No nearer to the truth then! Suspect not, just needed to be sure- before I had a really booze filled weekend. Will stick to a small glass of wine just to be safe then!

Superdrug are usually good early. If you think you are 12dpo or more then of course you are still in with a chance until proven otherwise by your period, but I'd perhaps let yourself have two glasses of wine. Best way to make sure you get a positive result is to get drunk the day before.

I got my BFP the day before my period was due - was on night shift and bored, really didn't expect it to be positive as has had AF-type cramps for 4 days but as I had easy access to tests I thought I might as well do one! Got the shock of my life when it was positive!

Superdrug ones are usually very sensitive - it's not the cost of the test that matters, it's how sensitive they are. I think sensitivity runs from 20-100mlU/ml with 20 being most sensitive, and as far as I remember Superdrug tests have a sensitivity of 25mlU/ml so are quite good! I'd test again on Monday if AF hasn't arrived. And I'd get pissed this weekend.

I am 12dpo today. But if i was pregnant then test would have picked up on that now wouldn't it?

Congratulations feathers! Thanks.
Thanks for advice. Will restrain myself from gettun drunk though! Had a mc in march. Don't want to do anything to jeopardise another potential pregnancy. No dc yet, sure you'll understand :)

Well yes, I do understand. Have had 2 mc myself but decided I wouldn't spend 2 weeks per month being "pre-pregnant". Not in the habit of getting shit faced anyway though! But it is apparently good for you anyway to cut down on the booze when ttc so perhaps abstaining is the wise choice anyway!

Superdrug early tests are actually 10mui and are therefore pretty much as good as first response. I got a very obvious positive at 11dpo. But they are not 99% until your period is due.
Sorry if it looks like you are out this month, if so better luck next month :)

I got mine the day my period as due, I didn't really trust it so tested the next day and nothing! I bought a Boots test the next day and it was a strong positive. I hope you get your positive :)

I also got a bfp early, about 12 day before my period was due. Don't know why I tested just had a feeling. Everyone is different tho.

I got my bfp the day before I was due, using a boots-own cheapie. Spent the next three days at a theme park for my hen weekend, bricking it, as it was too early to tell everyone. Gave the oblivion a miss and 'pretended' to drink.

I found out 5 days before I was due my period. I used some cheapo Boots test. I did one every day until my period was due. They were all positive!

I actually would not recommend testing this early as I spent the next 5 days (and then 12 weeks) waiting for something terrible to happen, but I just couldn't help my self at the time!

Yes, I am fairly neurotic Wink

I didn't get one until I was 3 days late - all these 'test eversovery early' types picked up diddly squat!

My test showed up as negative (I took it around time my period was due) .... I assumed it was right and when my period had still not arrived three weeks later, I took another test and it said I was pregnant! Good luck

I got a BFP the day my period was due, but missed it as I was rushing to take DH to the station. I watched the test for a minute, thought, 'Fuck it, another negative' and chucked it in the bin as I foolishly thought a positive result would show up straightaway. It was only when later emptying the bin I saw the test was positive. I thought, 'That must be one of those evaporation lines I read about on MN.'

It wasn't!

First time around I waited until my period was a week late and got a bfp on a sainsbury's cheapie. This time I was only 3 days late and got a bfp on a boots cheapie

Its better to wait until you're actually late before you test imo, you can spend a fortune on tests and drive yourself crazy otherwise (easier said than done I know)! Good luck op Smile

Congratulations to all you lucky ladies with BFPs and mousebacon...well, unfortunately for me- my cycles have shrunk back even further to 24 days, my AF arrived yesterday: full flow. On cd2 today. Is this shorter cycle bad for ttc? Or not. Very worried now. Been ttc for over two years with a miscarriage at 8.2 weeks in march. No dc yet. All fertility tests came back text book perfect for both of us. But what's with the shrinking cycle?
