Pregnancy

troubling symptom anyone experienced?

I am only 5 wks pregnant and just starting to get used to it. But last night?s symptom took me by surprise.
Basically after sex (just after climax to be precise) I started to get cramps/contractions in waves inmy uterus area. They were really quite painful (like very bad period pains) and subsided after 10 min. Anyone else experienced this and anyone knows what causes it? Is it safe or should I abstain, btw I have my first appointment with GP tomorrow and will mention it then, but in the mean time can anyone put my mind at rest?

never had it myself, but I do remember reading about it. I think it is quite normal.

I used to have this all the time it's how I knew I was definetly pregnant with dd2. Sorry if TMI but I had my first orgasm when pregnant with dd, DH in iraq and got bored so bought a VB and yes when I had A big O I would get the cramps. Wait until you are further along and have "one" your bump will do all funky shapes but I assure you it's nothing to worry about, both dd's were fine and I was at it nearly every day

OMG soph you are kidding about later aren't you!? (if I get there of course, fingers crossed)
What did you do about the pain? TBH it has put me off a bit as it was quite painful (and of course got me quite worried)
Seems it might be not that unusual though (I am going to have fun explaining this to DH though- er don't worry if I grimace in pain dear, it's all part of the fun!)

I'm sure you will be fine hun

The cramps when your further along are a bit like mild contractions. I asked my midwife about it and she said that when a woman has an orgasm normally your womb contracts anyway pregnant or not, but theres obviously more going on when preggers in that department.

I used to just let the pain subside and TBH I just got used to it. rememeber it was a new experience for me and I got a wee bit addicted

Just explain to your man if you pull a face after it's just normal, we wouldn't want him being afraid he's hurt you and start denying you now would we

OK be careful

I was advised by my gp to avoid sex for the first 12 weeks (previous m/c and I bled afterwards once)

as long as no bleeding you should be fine. Just be careful not to irritate your cervix too much.

mmme, ok, so I might give it a miss then... well at least until I check with my doc tommorow.
Thing is (look away now if you're afraid of tmi) I only discovered this yesterday through a semi asleep dream experience ie I wasn't exactly in control of it iykwim.
No bleeding or anything, but it did feel rather alarming (nice to know that it might calm down if i get past 12 weeks too- thanks lilac)
