Hi,

im new to this forum and have been looking on the web for information. my story is I have 3 children aged 11, 7 & 6. I had an emergency c section with number 1 and elective with 2 & 3. I choose to be sterilised while i was having number 3. I spilt with my childreds father 5 1/2 years ago and have since met my future husband. after telling him i could have no more children as i have been sterilised i now find myself if the posistion on being two weeks late on my period, i have done a couple of pregnancy tests and the have come back negative, what are the chances of my being pregnant, i would love it if i was. i have been having pregnacy syptoms ie feeling sick, tired and peeing loads, i have a doctors appointment on wednesday to see for sure the only time i have been late on a period is when im pregnant.

But is this all in my mind ......

It's not likely, BUT you really need to be sure because there is a high risk of ectopic pregnancy if you have been sterilised. See the GP and get a blood test.

I am considering having my tube tied after my CS with my second child in October. Did you regret having it done? I've had infertility issues and also issues getting DH to agree to a second child, so I feel I'd like to close the door on future babies so I can move on in my life without holding onto broody thoughts. I also don't like being on the pill. Could it be early menopause (sorry! don't mean this to sound like you are old) or PCOS? Is there a history of either of these in your family?

Hi,

Firstly i do regret having it done only for the simple reason of i parted from my childrens father just after the 3rd child was born, and my current partner has no children and really would dearly love one, we have been together for the last four years and this is the first time anything like this has happened. I dont think its early menopause as i have had no other sysptoms and my mum didnt go through menopause until her early fifties, but was is PCOS ? ( off to google )

just google PCOS and no i have no history of that either...... I got caught with my first whilst on the pill, baby number 2 was planned id been on depo injection and didnt go for it doing again and was pregnant within the month, I got caught again when my daughter was 12 weeks old but lost my little girl when i was 5 1/2 months along, 12 weeks later after that i fell pregnant with my little boy who has just turned 6.

so all in all think i was quite fertile :-0 x

definitely maybe.

sterilization, particularly at time of a caesarean section isn't 100%.

as someone else said, there is a higher risk of something like an ectopic if sterilization has been done but failed, so do ask your GP to refer you for an early scan.

Good luck!

Pregnancy tests are really pretty accurate (esp two after a missed period) so I would say you probably aren't. Maybe you're just having an off month.

Hi i am new to this so bit nervous, I was steralised Dec 2010 as thought i didnt want anymore children, but recently have been feeling very brudy and my husband is too. I am now over 3 weeks late have very tender boobs, and all signs of a period but nothing, i hope in a way i am pregnant as my husband and i had talked about the reversal, but do not think i could go through that knowing that i may still not get pregnant. I have 2 children from previous marriage but recently re-married. He has four children of his own but they are grown up now. Mine are 15 and 10. I know my kids would be over the moon about it (well i think so). I have done a test but was negative will do another one in week or so. Trouble is now i am worried that i am making more of it and that i am just wishing now and wonder if its more in my head, i hope you know what i mean by that, but my tummy feels different although hard to explain but only ever remember feeling like this when pregnant before. I have been reading a lot about this on the net as i didint want to talk to anyone yet but needed to find out more, it seems very common, whicj is quite worrying really. Oh well i have chatted for long enough. I will keep you informed but please feel free to comment, it would be good to hear from people.

Hi tweb

Like you i am new to this, i went to the docs this morning as i havent had a period for 7 weeks, and my periods are like clockwork. I was steralised 3 years ago, as we decided we didnt want anymore. But now i am really quite worried, i feel different in my stomach and have been having strange twinges on the left side down below,(i am worried about ectopic). My docter tried to reassure me i wouldn't be pregnant, and advised me to do a sample test, which i did, get the results on fri, but i couldn't wait and did my own test but it was negative. He told me if the result from the docs came back neg i would have to go for an ultrasound, so i guess its just a waiting game. i didn't realise how many people do get pregnant after being sterilised, and i had my tubes cut so def didn't think i would. i am 38 and have a daughter who is starting secondary school next year, so i don't think i would want another one now, but i must admit when the test i did at home came back negative i was slightly disappointed, but would i really want to start all over again!!!!!!!Hope your ok!!!!

Hi ive been reading most of the night and i have to say more confused than ever. I had my daughter june 2013 and was sterilised october (4 yrs this yr) my periods are like clockwork, however my last period was brown blood not mucas, well non that i noticed. Im usually on for 5-6 days but this only lasted about 3 days. But not due on for a week or so now, the brown blood has confused me as ive never experienced that, and boobs are feelin lil tender, slight back ache n pain on right side of abdomen. Its pointless doin a test at this stage but just looking for advice, think ive been caught up in these threads lol
Congrats to the mamas that have fallen pregnant x
