Hello,

sorry if this is't a Sunday breakfast time topic.... For the last 5 or 6 days I've had bad diarrhea mainly in the evenings especially after large meals. Afterwards I feel like I've got bad cramps for a bit. Then it seems to get better and then starts again in the evening.

Can this be hormonal? I mentioned it to my midwife and she said just stay hydrated. Any other suggestions? I'm worried it might be affecting the baby.

I had this. I think it may be another manifestation of morning sickness. I was slightly concerned but there was a recent thread on the subject which you could search for and it seems more common than I had thought. Also your midwife didn't seem concerned? Once someone decides you need iron tablets you may well have the opposite problem!!

Thanks Howabout you may be right about the morning sickness because I felt rotten recently. Scan tomorrow so hopefully will see all is well.

I'm 34 weeks now. Had projectile diarrhea until about week 14. It was very unpleasant (and I became very familiar with the bushes at the park) - but it did come to an end in time for the second trimester. Good luck!

Yes!! I have had this several times - am now 12 weeks. I also posted a thread on here and it seems like quite a few people go thru it it's just less talked about than morning sickness! It's just yet another joy of pregnancy Grin
I didn't really find what I ate helped but you could try eating starchy foods and things like bananas and as mw says make sure you keep hydrated. Also get plenty if rest it's tiring rushing to the loo so much!
nothingsoextraordinary The projectile stuff sounds awful you poor thing!

Hope your scan goes well Smile
I had a d&v bug at 9-10 weeks, nothing to do with morning sickness, just one of those things. The GP said to rest and stick to fluids only for 24-48 hours and see if it helps. I too found that as soon as I ate the consequences were dire and it was only going to a fluid diet for a day or so that started the road to recovery.
Be reassured that baby will almost certainly be unaffected (as long as you stay hydrated). The GP told me that the reason I was so ill is because the baby still takes 100% what it needs and leaves you with whatever's left!

I'm 12 weeks and have had this occasionally over the past weeks but in the morning.
Like Emy84 from doing a few searches I found its not that uncommon at all but just not really talked about!
I've just made sure I've kept myself hydrated, it seems to have stopped happening now but I may have just tempted fate by saying that!

i've had it on and off the whole pregnancy, much more than the constipation which everyone goes on about. 5/6 days in a row though must be a bit more annoying, but keep in touch with your midwife and try not to let it worry you too much Smile
